PLease check the submission status of www.costablancaworld.com. I submitted the site about a month ago but cannot see it in the top 100 sites - after that the relavancy gets a bit vague.
If it hasn't been listed, can I ask why. I know the site is new, but it has some very good information for people thinking of moving to the Costa Blanca.

You may ask the status of costablancaworld.com , but you'll have to tell us WHERE you submitted first -- please give that information in the form of a CLICKABLE URL to the DMOZ.ORG category.

You may not ask why it was rejected. 99% of the time, the reason is basically "editor couldn't find unique relevant information on the site".

You may not ask why it's not in the top one hundred on ANY search engine. If there are a thousand similar sites found, 90% of them won't be in the top one hundred! If you're asking about dmoz.org site search, it has no concept of relevance or rank at all -- it shows sites in "deterministic but indeterminate" (non-mathematicians might say "random") order. And if you're talking about Google or some other search engine, we have no control, no concern, and very little effect on them.

It is not waiting for review there, nor has it ever been edited. If you really think that's the right category, then you may resubmit.

But note: our standards for directories are high and rising. And if in scope and comprehensiveness your site is not by some measure better than any other site already listed, you can probably count on it NOT being listed.

Site submission status for costablancaworld.com

Hi

I re-submitted my site - costablancaworld in July as I obviously didn´t do it properly the first time in June.

I have submitted it to Regional: Europe: Spain: Guides and Directories
as it is an information source for those people wishing to emigrate to the Costa Blanca in Spain.

I realise that there are a number of other sites out there with similar subject matter, but I feel it merits mentioning as it has information the others do not have - such as a complete schools and colleges listing with average numbers of students per class, updated articles on mortgages by Banca March (a leading Spanish bank), advice and information about spanish employment law, personal security advice written by an ex policeman etc.

If you have rejected the site, please re-consider it as I spend a considerable time each day providing people with FREE information which is not property commission based.

Kind regards,

Karen

We don't review based on forum posts. Make sure that the site itself emphasizes its unique features.

Who do I ask then for site submission status?

Do you mean that it has, or has not yet been reviewed?

If not, how long does it take?

If yes, and its been rejected, what can I do now?

Regards,

Karen

Make the category link clickable, and someone will probably answer that part of the question. I just answered the part that didn't require that.

It is waiting there for review. You can bump this thread for another status in six months.

The time between status checks has avbsolutely nothign to do with the time it takes for a site review.

Status checks are spaced six months apart so that we can spend more time editing that answering repeat requests.

Reviews happen when they happen. Sometimes ina day or so, sometimes it takes more than two years. There is no speeding it up or "nudging" involved, just 10,000 active editors, working independently of each other with no bosses telling us what to do (or not do) nest. Actually, ODP is a bit of a worker's paradise -- except for the pay. You see, there isn't any, we do this for love! ;)

Site change since submission

This is a copy of my message posted on a new thread regarding costa-blanca-world.com

Hi Arubin

The original URL is just pointing, there are no duplicated files. Hopefully then, it does not matter. Just a pity I didn't have the advice before I submitted.

Yes, I would like a submission status of my new URL.

The place I submitted it for inclusion in was
http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/Spa...ss_and_Economy/

Thanks

To save ourselves time, we are not going to give you another status update until March 3rd. This is our pollicy. We don't give up dates more often that that. It gives us more time to do actual reviews of sites.
