Why no response?

Is there some reason no one has responded to my message? Did I do something incorrectly?

Well, no, you haven't done anything wrong as far as this forum goes, the request just fell through the cracks.

However as far as DMOZ is concerned, yes, you have done something very wrong by suggesting this site as it is a related site to one already listed. Please read our real estate guidelines http://dmoz.org/guidelines/regional/realestate.html , http://dmoz.org/guidelines/include.html#notinclude , and point 2 of step 1 in http://dmoz.org/add.html (which of course you have already read when you made the suggestion) for possible consequences.

Are you not already listed in that category - how can you ask us to add this as well?

[ADDED - two editors in the middle of the night posting at the same time  ]

Thanks for your response

I appreciate your responses and completely respect your conclusion. I do not intend on arguing but please let me at least explain my intentions.

Both of my websites have completely different content, although the sites do have several links that point to each other (as resources). However, if you actually look at what domain the information is coming from, you will find that both sites have their own completely different content.

I was certainly not trying to “scam” the system. I simply felt that both websites had unique content and that both would make good additions to the directory. Most good informational websites have external links to other resources/sites. I happen to maintain two websites that each offer good resources, and therefore I have links to both of them along with links to many other non affiliated websites.

Here are some examples of what www.gr-realestate.com offers in it’s pages but www.grhomebroker.com does not:
http://www.gr-realestate.com/content/homeadvice.html
http://www.gr-realestate.com/content/news.html
http://www.gr-realestate.com/content/reports.html

http://www.gr-realestate.com/content/article.html/38941
http://www.gr-realestate.com/content/contact.html

Here are some examples of what www.grhomebroker.com offers in it’s pages but www.gr-realestate.com does not:
http://www.grhomebroker.com/REO.htm
http://www.grhomebroker.com/BPO_Order.htm
http://www.grhomebroker.com/REO-Zips.htm
http://www.grhomebroker.com/BuyerKit.htm
http://www.grhomebroker.com/grand-rapids-appraisal.htm
http://www.grhomebroker.com/Pre-Qualify_Mortgage.htm
http://www.grhomebroker.com/Schools1.htm
http://www.grhomebroker.com/property_tax_information.htm
http://www.grhomebroker.com/millage_rates.htm
http://www.grhomebroker.com/Homes_Search4.htm
http://www.grhomebroker.com/important_phone_numbers.htm

As I said, I accept your decision. Because neither site actually hosts any of the same pages, I felt it complied with item #2. It appears that I was incorrect and therefore I will not attempt to list www.grhomebroker.com in the directory. I apologize for my confusion.

Thanks for your time.

Thanks for understanding.

From our viewpoint, all the pages across the two sites (since they are linked together) can be considered one site. And since they are linked together, there was obviously no intent to deceive in this case (which, unfortunately, is in our experience, is frequently an issue. That's why our responses may appear guarded or even adversarial in some similar cases.)

And it's good to get one of these cleared without hostility. Thanks again.
