Not to worry, we'll recall the Nazgul.

The editor who would have called out the lynch mob probably won't see this message, but ...

We tell people not to submit more than twice. People that listen to us may make less work for us. But your one duplicate won't even be a dark corner in the abyss of the truly persistant spammers.

Don't sweat it. Go out and do something good for someone who needs it.

\Hello,

I am checking on the status for

http://www.thefinanceinstitute.com

http://dmoz.org/Business/Real_Estate/Education_and_Training/Schools_and_Instruction/

Sorry, but can't seem to get path to show up?
It has been over a month
I know it is impossible to give time line, just thought I would mention we are the only online mortgage exam preparation source for Utah exam and all brokers have to pass this year. Our service is unique, in need, people have to drive to the capital other wise, and nobody knows we are here. Once again I know circumstances are not important.

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Rejected: at the time, apparently, all links seemed to be non-working. (Understandable on the part of the editor, it looks like 50 out of 51 are still disfunctional. That kind of massive overcategorization -- 51 categories, two pizzley links -- makes you look very bad. Of course, violating the ODP submittal policies by submitting before the site is ready for business also makes you look bad.)

You can re-submit. You might mention in brackets at the end of the proposed description [we actually have some content this time...]

I would very strongly recommend also providing a text-based category structure, which showed only the states that actually had courses, and in parentheses after each state showed the number of courses. (Sort of like ODP categories, if you want to look at a well-designed user interface :) ) If you do that, the editor won't look at five different states and (with 90% probability) reasonably conclude that there was in fact no content -- when there actually was something in one of the other 46. That would also improve the site's usability for limited browsers or people with limited vision -- which, by the way, includes ODP editors keeping late hours.

Thanks,

I did not understand that we could not put the graphic interface link in for all states-which we have courses for they are just not online yet- . [What we are focusing on is JUST Utah.] That is where the need for our product is.

I will hire a new IT company to do this correctly, I know finance not web marketing.

Once again,

my apologies and should I wait to resubmit when we have content for all states or can I do it now but just for Utah

If the description is clear that it's just Utah content available, then the editor shouldn't delete the site for not having, say, anything in any of Alabama, Arizona, West Virginia, or Wyoming.

No, there's no problem in "clear focus". The problem is if your navigation implies a broader scope than actually exists (and the editor therefore sees nothing across most of the scope.)

Resubmit now if you wish, but just make sure (somehow) the visitor (editor or surfer) understands what to look for.

I sumitted the site: The Finance Institute. some time ago and it was denied inclusion for good reason. The geograpical nature of our finance training site was not made clear to editors. Although now all state links do work we are still heavily concentrating on the Utah market. I believe this link is where the site should be listed:

http://www.dmoz.org/Reference/Education/Products_and_Services/Test_Preparation/Professional_Exams/Finance/

I understand that the inherant nature of dmoz procludes the editors from being time sensitive, but I feel I should mention that the market for our service is time sensitive. Loan officers and mortgage brokers only have the remainder of 2004 to study for and successfully pass the exam if they want to continue working in the field and we are the only online source of education based in Utah.

Please resone to status for http://www.thefinanceinstitue.com

\Hello,

I think I uderstad the postiong rules, although beginning a new thread does not comply.

I am curious if it is possible, regardles of the rules, that when in urgent need by our cient base a site can be looked at ASAP. Let me explain, although there anumerous schools in Utah offering Utah Mortgage Exam Preparation courses, none of them but \Hello,

http://www.thefinanceinstitute.com

http://dmoz.org/Business/Real_Estat...nd_Instruction/

offer a truly on line educational experience with simulate exams. Of the 14,000 Utah brokers that are supposed to take the exam less then 4000 actually have. One of the primary reasons is because unless you live in the Wasatch front and are able to travel to the traditional brick-and mortar scholls-which means in effet you have to take off work(most classes our held during the dayyou have to off work shich means, basically you have to lose money to spend money and stilll have to go study for ten hours on your own time. We have remedied all all of these issuses and, regardsless of the stricite guidelines could I believe our case could not b any clearer. If I have broken the rurles or offended please forgife me, I am just thinking of all the bokrer that have very vew options available to the. I myself am a broker not a wemaster, but I joined this company because of the quality of their content and would trully like to see it out in the open

Submission Status for http://www.thefinanceinstitute.com

Thank you for reading my posting. Once again, and with respect, there exists 11,300 mortgage brokers and loan officers that do not know the The only online mortgage exam prep course in Utah even exists. It is difficult, if not impossible, to find it in the search engines and they have until Jan 1st of 2005 to pass the exam or lose their license and the earning potential.

Please believe that I am not trying to find some loop hole to get our site rated, but only that we do not have the resources to notify all of those in need about the existance of our site. The real problem is that our beloved state government, which accordding to statute is supposed to regulate these sites has dropped the ball and let any number of fradulaent resources go online. With substantial content or just what the state gives away for free. Basically alot of people are being ripped off.

Thanks for your ear,

Weston J. Bury

I'm sorry, but we can't provide special treatment for people posting in this forum. If we did, we'd have mass chaos with all the requests. I hope you understand.

It will bear repeating -- there are lots of sites that WILL provide special processing for webmasters in a hurry -- yahoo.com or looksmart.com are two of the more reputable ones. Yahoo and Google offer reputable advertising services, and there are many others. If this is important to you, then you really should be taking advantage of their offerings.
