Submission Status of www.eklecticmix.com

I submitted my site http://www.eklecticmix.com over a month ago to the http://dmoz.org/shopping/general_Merchandise/E/ category and I have not heard anything as of yet. I also noticed that this category does not have an editor. How does this impact my site getting listed? I am asking because I do not want to do anything wrong. Are there additional steps I should take or do I continue to wait to be contacted?

The site doesn't have a named editor; there are many people who can edit in shopping. What causes delays is (1) there are a LOT of shopping sites, and (2) there are a lot of sneaky spam submittals there. So it takes time and experience to be able to edit in those categories. And, of course, the value to surfers of one more generic shopping site is diminished by the presence of so much competition.

You've done what you can at the ODP: we know about the site and will look at it. If you are waiting "to be contacted", it will be a VERY long wait -- we're "editors," not "corresponding secretaries." (But you can bump this thread in six months to ask for another status report.)

If you need immediate site promotion services for the sake of the business, take the time to look into some sites that offer them -- because the ODP doesn't and can't provide that. All it will give you is, at best, one link among another several hundred.

So, assuming you've also submitted the site to Google (the search engine, not their directory which is just us), you're ready to start the serious work of site promotion.
