I'm wondering why you submitted to three categories when the submission guidelines clearly state that you should submit to the single best category.

Which two of those submissions do you think we should delete, thus saving time for the volunteer editors who will eventually have to review your submissions?

I just read the post
Important: ATTENTION - Forum Guidelines - READ BEFORE POSTING

From that post:
In the body of your post, include clickable links to 1. your site and 2. the dmoz.org category or categories you submitted to. The simplest way to do this is to copy and paste the URL of the ODP category. Please note that all category links must point to pages on dmoz.org, and nowhere else.
Example:
Please let me know the status of http://www.mysite.com, submitted to
1. http://dmoz.org/Business/Mining_and...and_Switchgear/
2. http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_Amer...ss_and_Economy/

Where can I find the right guidelines then?

On the other hand, dmoz.org is the site you submit to, and you agreed to having read the guidelines when you did submit!

We're not out to persecute you; it was a rather mild case of multiple submission, and you don't need to worry that your site will be penalised in any way. The reason I write this post is that it is not the first time I've seen that particular argument used to defend multiple submissions, so it is important to point out that the posting guidelines for Resource-Zone do not give any kind of explicit or implicit permission to submit a site to many categories at dmoz.org. The reason the post looks like that is that certain sites - for instance sites with versions in several languages - may be listable in more than one category. (There is more on that topic here.)

You seem to have a thing about not reading guidelines! Those for this forum allow you to ask for a further status check not earlier than 6 months after the last one. Sept 10 + 6 months = March 10th.

I see no change in the status of that suggestion. A suggestion made to a completely different category now waits in Computers/Internet/Proxying_and_Filtering/Products_and_Tools/Software .

You make ask again for status in another 6 months.

Thanks, but no thanks. We'll make do with the submittals we already have, and with our own taxonomic expertise.

Don't submit. Don't wait another year. Go about your business, secure in the knowledge that when an ODP editor is working on related subjects, you've done all you can to ensure your site won't get accidentally overlooked.

Although the one thing you could do, and it is a step that will undoubtedly earn you some goodwill, is to give us a single comprehensive list of everyplace each of your domains have been submitted.

Spectregunner,

Thank you for your answers. I am just kind of confused about your question. What do all the domains I submitted to Dmoz have in relation with each other, and how could this list help you help me?

It will enable a single editor with the correct permissions to eliminate any unnecessary duplicate submissions.

If browseblast.com is the only site where you have made multiple submissions, a list for that one would be helpful.

While this mostly would benefit the directory, there is an important side benefit to you. Sometimes, when multiple editors are cleaning out duplicates, they accidentaly clen out all of the instances of a given URL. Providing a list of places where submitted will allow us to do the clean up and ensure that you still have a submission waiting in the appropriate category or categories.

Ok, your question makes perfect sense now. I was about to give a list of all the domains I submitted, which wouldn't have been helpful at all to you.

The only domain I submitted to more than one category is Browseblast.com

Here is the list of categories I submitted to (which is pretty much outlined on this thread):

Computers/Software/Shareware/Windows/Internet/Dial-Up_Networking/Proxy_Servers_and_Firewalls/
Computers/Software/Shareware/Windows/Internet/Dial-Up_Networking/
Computers/Performance_and_Capacity/

Cleaned up and made to a single cat. by Mod. Ishtar:
Computers/Performance_and_Capacity/

Moved by Mod. Arubin:
Computers/Internet/Proxying_and_Filtering/Products_and_Tools/Software

Again, thank you for your help.

Moved by Mod. Arubin:
Computers/Internet/Proxying_and_Filtering/Products_and_Tools/Software

I didn't move it. I just saw that it had been moved.

And I'm not a moderator. (At least, I don't think I'm a moderator.) :p
