No listing is ever automatic. A submittal only makes the site available for editors who are looking for sites on a particular topic.

Oh, by the way: what particular topic did you suggest this site for? (Please make a clickable link to the category -- without it we usually can't tell you anything.)

Your suggestion has been received and is awaiting review. We can't predict when that might be. If it hasn't been listed in 6 months, please ask again in this same thread.

If only it were
If only it were
If only it were
If only it were
If only it were

My own variation:

Received and waiting for review by an editor. You can return to this thread for an update in 6 months if it is not listed by then. Thanks.

I asked about automating replies, in an internal forum. Apparently each of us is responsible for his or her own "automation".

The only automated text strings here are:
[readme]x[/readme]
and
and their French versions.

RE: Submition Status

Hi, I've noticed one of your editors have accessed my site but im not on your directory  Please could you tell me if our site has been listed or does it take longer than just an editor viewing my site?

http://editors.dmoz.org/editors/editunrev2.cgi

Here is the pearl script that accesed my site at the begining of this month.

There are a dozen reasons why your site might be accessed by an editor without it meaning the site has been reviewed. Watch the category, do the occasional search on the URL without the http://www. bit, and if you don't see it listed in 6 months and want to know if it has been rejected, come back and ask using this same thread.

You can see for yourself if your site is listed. Just visit the category it was waiting in.
If it isn't anything could have happened. There are to many reason your site can be visited through that link to explain.

If the site isn't listed you are allowed to ask for a status 6 months after your previous request.

No you may not.

Please follow the forum rules that have been explained to you and that are in the FAQ.

Automated reply system code 17

A clarification ---

Forum rules require a six month wait to ask for additional status information. It is suggested that you bookmark this thread for future use. One way is to use Thread Tools->Subscribe to this thread.

The six months is from the last answer you received, not the date you suggested your site.

This information is included in Read the guidelines before posting - which you should review at this time.

It has nothing to do with the time required to review your site. Site reviews may occur anywhere from tomorrow to never.

[Please note that we are very strict about six months]

Do not keep asking questions about your site - wait a full six months begore asking again

Spend the time reading all FAQS and guidelines

This forum is manned by volunteers - superfluous questions tie up resources

Hmmm Open directory project :) I dont understand it. Seems like it takes for ever to get listed, and all the editors do is tell people to wait all day ;) it might work a bit faster if you droped the forum lol. but what do I know :)

It might work a bit faster if people would follow our guidelines. Which you aren't doing.
Last warning: you must wait a minimum of 6 months between status requests, lst answer was given on January 21, 2005. So don't come back before July 21.
