Hi

I submitted our companies website: <url removed> to the category:
dmoz.org/Shopping/Publications/Magazines/

The submission was probably a year or so ago [can't recall exactly]. I am now wondering if this is the best category to have submitted the above site to? - The category, or its parent category, doesn't seem to have any active editors.

Should I resubmit it to the above category, or to a more appropriate category (if one exists).

I should state we are NOT an affiliate site. We are an online shop, taking orders, processing them, and then sending them to the magazine publishers.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Regards

Martin

I'd strongly suggest following the submittal policy. You have no way of predicting where the active editors will be, so there can be no more effective technique than suggesting to the best category you can find.

And editors look for the best category for every site we consider listing. It's not a service you have to request specially.

Thank you for your VERY prompt respone and suggestion - really much appreciated.

Is there any way of telling if the submission is still in the queue of the above category (which is the category we believe to be the best fit for [err.sorry - I removed the URL as per your TOS])? Or whether we should resubmit, following the submission guidelines very closely :) Of course we don't want to resubmit if it doesn't require it - because we don't want to add more work for the editor in question.

Thank you again.

The submittal policy allows for one resubmittal.

If a site IS waiting review, a resubmittal causes us no harm, and we really don't care if you do it. If the site is NOT waiting review, a resubmittal wastes our time, and we'd much rather you not do it.

But we've never seen any scenario in which giving information about the queue results in more desirable behavior from submitters.
