I am very new (like today) to this form and maybe it has been posted.

But the question I have is There is NO submission button to the catagory my web site belongs.

It is true I am an MLM and there are lots listed and I really would like to list my web site, but I can't figure out how to do this.

Thanks and sorry if this has been discuss before.

Are you a representative of a MLM company? The description of the MLM category states:

Submissions for companies offering MLM opportunities will be listed in this category.

The ODP does not list sites from Independent Representatives of these programs. Please do not submit these sites. They will be deleted.

Judie,

We don't list MLM sites in the directory, except maybe for the one and only site that originates the whole program. If you're a representative your site can't be listed. Thanks.

One bit of "perceptual shift" -- you don't and can't "list your site" in the ODP. You CAN "help the ODP editors by bringing to their attention sites they might like to review and consider listing." But ... they promise you they won't list sites for MLM representatives. That was a community decision, based on community experience, and it is not something we want to reconsider.

Thanks

I understand what you are saying. It is too bad there are MLM companies that have really ruined if for some who really try to do good business.

I know there are good MLM companies out there. (and I happen to be in one and never thought I would) OH well what can I say if you allow one then whos to say the junkies will get in.

Judie

Ps. Can you list a product you sell in the directory but not put anything on the web page that leads to the business part?

It's not about good people and bad people. It's not about good companies and bad companies. It's about "unique content". If what you have to sell is a product through an MLM program, then you can't possibly have unique shopping content.

thanks again

I am not sure what you are talking about good unique shopping content. Because I do have a product or products you can shop right on my web site. Plus I have a shopping cart and take orders from the web site also have a hosting company for my web site.

But I also have a link on my web site where people can sign up to get a discount on the products and this is where the MLM comes in. (which I can remove if it would effect getting into the directory.)

It really is no different then like Mary Kay (which I notice you do have listed on your web site)

Thanks again and appreciate all your answers to my dumb questions.

Let me try and help clarify. We will list the main site for a MLM. We do not list distributor sites. Example we would list the main site for Nutrition for Life, Amway, Mary Kay and Avon. However, we will not list sites for the reps of those companies.

Thanks again

This is what I would like to know HOW does a main site of a MLM company get listed when I saw no submit button on the page?

I understand distributors do not get listed. But the main site of MLM would like to get listed but again HOW?

Thanks for this help, Judie

Editors routinely add sites into categories where submissions are not permitted.

ODP does not rely upon submissions as a necessary element in building the directory. We consider submissions/suggestions as a courtesy, but much of the directory is built through editor research.

OK. again I am so new at this and I am trying to help a Corp of a MLM get listed with the directory well when I come to the business category of the MLM it does not have a place for me to click on to "suggest a URL!!!"

So, what do I do?? Is there another place to go to to suggest a URL?

Please and thanks,

Judie

There are some sites which will not be accepted if submitted by users, but can be listed by editors.

As for this question, I'll ask in the internal editor fora, and try to determine how (and where) an MLM company can be suggested.
