when the website is submitted, does it go through the review stage and then posted? if so, how long is the review stage usually. If there was no submission and there is a listing and description already in place that is not correct, how can it be rectified?

Reviews take anywhere from 10 minutes [very rare but possible] to a couple of years [and maybe more]. Depends on too many factors to predict.

Updates for listed sites are done by going to the category where the site is located, and pressing the Update URL link in the top right. You will then be asked for the URL and the changes. Since the request can be done by anyone [not just the site ownere], any suggested changes must be verified and matched against the contents of the site.

Changes in the listing to reflect an incorrect listing, or the fact that the web site has changed, or a request that it be moved to a different category [where appropriate] would be welcome.

Suggested changes that do not match the guidelines e.g. trying to get keywords stuffed into the description or adding marketing hype would be ignored.

Hi,
I submitted a site to a category which doesn't seem to have an editor. I'm looking for advise on how I would go about getting a review.
Thank You For the Help

No category is without an editor. Some categories have one or more named editors, but those that don't are edited by the editors higher up in the category tree (for instance, Shopping/Vowels/A can be edited by any editor of Shopping/Vowels and Shopping). In addition, there are a couple of hundred editors with editing rights in the entire directory.

So all you need to do is wait for an editor to come to your category. :)
