Submit to different subcategories or to main category?

Hi

I have a (non commercial) beer site about beer (actually, the english version of my site).
It focuses on a few different topics: a guide to beer in Italy (places, breweries etc); ratings and listings of international beers; label scans, homebrewing etc.
There is not a clearly more important beer subtopic (I just can say that maybe the first two topics are a bit more relevant...)

What should I do:
- submit to a few subcategories - let's say just the two subcategories that fit each of the two main topics; the editor would cut one if he/her disagrees.
- OR pick just one subcategory (even if its topic covers less than half of the site)
- OR submit only to the more general category (Recreation: Food: Drink: Beer) and let the editor move the site to the appropriate subcat, (if he/her decides that the site cannot stay in the general cat.)

also... is it possible/recommended that I submit the site also to a regional category? Consider that only a part of the site (though an important part, since 1998 a reference on the topic) is focused on Italy, and the existent regional category is about "food & wine".

FYI, I have just submitted the site in the World:Italy directory - no problems there, as there is only a beer category without subcats.

Cheers, ciao & TIA

It is impossible to advise you about where to submit your site when we haven't seen it. If you tell us the URL, we may be able to make a more educated guess about where it should go.

As a general rule, if your site is primarily about one of the subcategories within a topic (i.e. most of your content would be covered by a listing in that subcategory), you should submit it there. If your content is roughly evenly split between topics covered in two or more subcategories, it wouldn't really fit in one subcategory. As a result, you should submit it to the more general category one level up. However, without seeing your site, I can't tell you if that rule would apply in your case.

Thanks... you were both fast! :)

the site URL is:
www.maxbeer.org

the english version is easily reachable from there... the main topics are also easily recognizable as the top ones on the left menu.

(I did not posted the URL because I wasn't sure if it was allowed... all that blog and forum spamming made me a bit paranoid about it ;-)
After a quick review, I'll stick with my original recommendation of [url']http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Food/Drink/Beer/Personal_Pages/
Could be right... actually I see sites similar to mine in the Personal Pages - though I see that also a few in the main beer directory are comparable.

thanks for the suggestions.

...and thanks for saying thanks :). There are many success stories stemming from this forum, but few take the trouble to report them :(.
