Submit Whole Site or Break it UP?

I'm a bit new to this so please bear with me.
If you have a recipe site do you submit the whole site to one category or can you break it up.
My main page has the index of all the recipe categories, but I was wondering if I should break it up for submitting. ie mysite.com/cookies mysite.com/crockpots
It is a large site with over 5000 pages which is the reason I'm asking if it would be beneficial to break it up.
The main index does have the 40 different categories listed on it though.
Thanks.

Don't break it up. That would just cause lots of editors in lots of categories to sigh when they see your submissions and have to correct them and send them off to a higher category. Just submit the whole site, once, to the most appropriate category. I appreciate you asking the question before submitting. Most of my time in these threads is spent explaining to people what they did wrong, and it's nice to be able to catch someone before they make a mistake. <img src="/images/icons/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Thank you for the information. I was a bit stumped on this one as I had seen a lot of sites that were one main site but listed in all different recipe subcategories under the subdirectories?
How does that happen. Do the editors do this?

It happens because they got listed ages ago when our guidelines for inclusion were less rigid. As I said, I do appreciate you asking the question. Many submitters see what you did, go ahead and submit all over the place, then get upset when we tell them they've been rejected and that they look like a spammer.

We will be cleaning up all of those categories some day.
