Not all sites are going to be listed, and no suggestion is guaranteed to be included. See our FAQ for more information. The review process takes some time, in some categories it can take quite a long time depending on several factors including, but not limited to editor interest, category popularity, and submitted spam.
A review time can be anywhere from a couple of days to several years. If you have already suggested your site, thank you for your help in finding it. Eventually an editor will take a look and if it fits the guidelines for inclusion it will be listed, if it doesn't fit the guidelines (you can check that out yourself at anytime
) then we still thank you for pointing it to us.

I suppose it might, if you submit the sites to search engines, but this forum is about the ODP, which is not a search engine.
As one part of our service to internet users, we allow anyone to suggest sites for volunteer editors to review, but as clearly stated in our public documents (and in the FAQ here) there is absolutely no guarantee that any such suggestion will subsequently be listed in the directory. So "submitting" sites to the ODP can have no possible effect on their ranking.

What is it, that you think you are waiting for? Not all sites are accepted/listed. There really is nothing to wait for. You have made a suggestion, eventually someone will look at that suggestion and decide if it fits what the directory is looking for and either list it or not. There is no response in any case, of course if the site is listed it will eventually show up in the category, so since nothing is forthcoming I see no point in waiting on it.
There is zero reason to wait on anything anyway, make a suggestion to improve a category and move along to the things that really matter to you. Like improving and promoting your site, adding content, keeping your customers/visitors happy. Doing this will be far less frustrating than waiting.
