Submitted Many Times w/o Reason: What's Wrong?

I've submitted a site a couple of times now, waiting a few weeks to a few months in between. I've tried various approaches of submitting and have carefully reviewed the categories to find the right one. I've not received feedback at all what was or is wrong with the submission. I'd really like to have the site listed, so I'd like to improve either submission, site or both, depending on what was the actual problem. As I haven't received feedback so far on this, I'd like to ask for it here.

I've tried contacting the category editor in question via the link provided in said category but didn't receive a reply. This was many weeks ago.

The category in question (for the latest submission) is

World/Deutsch/Gesundheit/Medizin/Aus-_und_Weiterbildung/Studium

Thanks in advance!

please read the guidelines at DMOZ and the FAQ here at R-Z

- suggest a site ONCE to the ONE best category
- you will not get any notice when the site is reviewed
- we can not predict when a suggested site will be reviewed, it may take upto several years
- we advice editors not to answer emails about suggested sites
- we do not provide status checks here at R-Z

Years. That's quite extreme, if I may say so. I suppose the only thing that I can do about that would be to apply for editor?

If the only reasn you are intersted in applying to be an editor is to list your own site, that is not lokely going to lead to a successful application.

No, that wouldn't change anything.
We only need editors that want to build the directory. We don't need people that only want to become an editor to list their own site.

My thoughts were more along the lines of "maybe there aren't enough editors, so if I volunteer it might help bring down the waiting time of years" (although I guess it could be misinterpreted as it was).

The basic problem is that we see suggestions in two different ways. I'm guessing that you see a suggestions as if you're submitting to a listing service. The problem is that we're not a listing service. We see suggestions as a pool to dip into when we're building a category. If I'm building a category, I may look at the suggestions, I may just go out looking for sites, or I may use URLs that I've run across in real life, such as local restaurants, businesses, and resources.

Medicus, yes we could always use more good editors that are willing to help build and maintain the directory without personal gain. If you fit the bill, why not apply when our servers come back on line (see the announcements in this forum). If you want to make sure you're not seen as wanting to become an editor just to list your own sites, then apply for a completely unrelated category; perhaps one related to a hobby or interest, or one for your home town/village... There's plenty of useful advice for potential editors in the FAQs of this forum. :)

Obviously my primary interest is with the category I mentioned above (and that'd probably be the category that I'd fit best). So, unless this topic disqualifies me for applying this would very probably be the category I'd apply in.

I wasn't trying to list _my_ site btw, but a site that I found very useful and that I use myself. So, I wouldn't be doing that. Speaking of my own sites, would it be allowed to that at all?
