There are no stages. There are just two states: "listed" and "not listed".
Everyone on the web can tell which state any site is in. And that's all there is to it: editors looking for unlisted sites to list, and bad listings to remove.
What you are talking about is not a problem at all.
The real problem is that people do not understand what DMOZ is and how it operates.
I do not know if this is caused by lazyness (not taking the time to read what we have written) or that they do not want to understand. Knowing mankind a little I guess for most people it is just lazyness.
If you have already found a website, the ODP cannot help you any more--you have found that website all by yourself; all by yourself you've already accomplished all that the ODP could have helped you with.
Beyond that point, it's you helping the ODP. And if there's a problem THERE, only the ODP editors could see it.
So, if there IS a problem, it would be me having it.
Is there a way to set the default anchor so that the ads are hidden? Like the search feature on the iPod, you scroll up if you want to see it, otherwise its as if its not there.
There are no ads at the Open Directory, dmoz.org, or on this forum. So, by definition, they're always invisible.
Some browsers or internet services are ad-supported; if you're using one of those, you'll need to ask the proprietors how to suppress the ads. It wouldn't have anything to do with the ODP, in any case.
