Last month, I submitted my real estate site to what I have now learned was the wrong category:
http://www.dmoz.com/Business/Investing/Real_Estate/Real_Estate_Investment_Trusts/

Over the past month, I have learned more about the DMOZ and the guidelines about the submission of real estate sites to the DMOZ. Where my specialty is helping people understand the financial services type strategies when selling their real estate, I now understand that I should have submitted my site in the regional section under Jupiter, Florida.

http://dmoz.com/Regional/North_Amer...s/J/Jupiter/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/

Today I submitted my site to the Jupiter real estate section that I believe is the correct location following what I now understand to be the guidelines for submitting my real estate site.

What or how can I remove my first request to have my site listed in the Real Estate investment section?

My site is www.KeysToFlorida.com

Thanks for any assistance!

You can't - an editor will do that if they agree with you the site is unsuitable. Don't worry about it ;)
