Submitted WebSite 8 years ago and still waiting

Hello DMOZ Community,

I have seen this site like when i use to surf internet via yahoo search. I always wanted to be added to this site but never was even though after 8 years and finally tried to add again few months back.

This site is very clean site not even a single spam link which i think is due to monitored submission and i think its an amazing concept.

I will never give up submitting my site and you do have the right to reject it which is fine but Sir if you could atleast do one thing while rejecting a site cant we get an auto mail at the e-mail we provide saying site rejected try after 3 months with proper category or title n description.

I dont care what people write about DMOZ but you have been the best clean directory on the whole web. these people who write are mainly whos sites were not added in DMOZ or possibly some SEO companies.

Another thing Sir i have been in IT for more than 14 years and when i submit a site i do try my best to meet your rules and regulations & follow your guidelines but only thing i dont know if my site is rejected or on pending.

Hope someday you will add my website which is already more than 11 years old.

Yep, same here. I have been waiting for 8 years now and have never had one of my websites listed. Even though our company website is in the top three in its industry, our website has been completely over looked for years, but it doesn't come as a surprise as I know the person that edits our category and he wouldn't add our website to the category as we are a competitor. Looks like we will never get a listing in the GREAT DMOZ directory!

@rspain - Hi, We take this kind of thing seriously. If you furnish some details, for example the sites url and an editor name by PM to any meta or admin here, the issue will be investigated and appropriate action taken. Thanks.

@nainital - The directory is run by hobbyists. We spend as much time as we can on the directory, but that's all it is, a hobby activity. We don't need to send mails when we reject a site as the guidelines we use to review the sites are public, so anyone will know if the site they suggest will be rejected. We review the sites individually, and re-write non-guideline compliant titles and descriptions as well as move sites to the correct category if misplaced.
So it's most likely that the site you suggested is simply waiting for an editor to review it.

Thanks for the reply.

I already mentioned in my post that is the only directory in the whole world that is spam free as the sites are rewieved individually. But sir as you say that its most likely that the site is simply waiting for an editor to review it even after 8 years thats too long sir. My site is 11 years old and in top searches in all the sites but i would love to be your directory. And would wait another 8 years if site is simply waiting for an editor to review it because i know its worth a wait.

Posting here does not expedite the listing of a website. If it did, the few of us who respond here would be swamped.

I have been having the same issue. I submit my site once a year for the last 5 years and it has yet to be listed. I have gone thru the guidelines with a fine toothed comb and I am sure my website complies with the guidelines.

I wish I could figure out why but I won't die if I don't get listed. LOL...

Bad idea - particularly when our T&C (which you agreed each time) told you not to do that.

It is really Imagine! If it is awaiting for 8 years then when it will listed after the death of the site owner ?
I think you have make a wrong submission or it is the mistake of the site.
however, You can try again.

Jim I did my education in UK - (Coventry - London) for six years that time i submitted the site now im back in India running my own travel agency im myself a webmaster & do know few things though i read the guideline and submitted the site. Now the problem i face is i cant submit the site again + dont know whether its been reviewd or not. I would request you if you have sometime kindly review it.

As has been stated many times: It is not possible to ask for a spcial treatment. You will have to wait like anybode else.

If a site has been suggested there are a few possible options
1. the site is not listable - everybody can read the DMOZ guidelines to know which sites we do not list - there is no reason to suggest the site again
2. the site is listed - look in the directory to see if this is true - there is no reason to suggest the site again
3. the site is waiting review - a suggestion will not be removed without review - there is no reason to suggest the site again
3. the site is reviewed but the editor decided that it should be listed in another category he has no rights - the site has been moved to another category where it is waiting a new review - there is no reason to suggest the site again

overall conclusion there is no reason to suggest a site again
