Submitting new URL in new category to replace old

I tried to update SoftLink's old URL to our new URL www.softlink.com (SoftLink's Homepage) in the old category - but received notification saying this was not possible. I have now submitted the new URL in the appropriate "File Transfer" category and would be happy if the old URL is deleted. I am concerned that the new URL may be deleted instead. Please advise how I can confirm the listing of the new URL and not the old. Thanks.

Guess the first question would be, "From whom did you receive notification from"?

To properly check, we'll need the old URL and a "clickable" links to whatever category it was in and what you submitted to.

For editors to easily verify the authenticity of the URL change it helps if the old website contains a link to the new site, or a note about the change of address.

This is not a must do, but it sure makes life a lot easier.

Thanks for the prompt response. The "error" response was a DMOZ page which unfortunately I do not have the link to - not a "human response". The old URL old url and is in category http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Communications/ as opposed to new URL <a href="http://www.softlink.com" target="_blank">www.softlink.com </a> for new category for File Transfer http://dmoz.org/Computers/Software/Networking/File_Transfer/.
