Suggest The Right Category?

I'm unsure of which category would be the best fit, and I've spent at least 45 minutes searching through the ODP categories. So, could you please assist me in determining which category would be best for submission?

This business provides an interview and transcription process in order for people to preserve their memories for future generations. One service is to transcribe and send a Letter of Love, and another service is to create a scrapbook in addition to the interview and transcription services.

Thanks in advance :)

We do not and will not offer that service as part of the forum.

Submit to the single best category that you can identify. If, upon site review, the reviewing editor determines that the category was not correct (and that the submission was not malicious), then it will get moved to the better category based upon the editor's judgement and review of the site.

For us to make the suggestion here would require that we visit and review the site, and that is the role of the editor who is working that category at that time.

I'm not surprised. Even current ODP editors occassionally have trouble finding the best-fit category. Fortunately for ODP editors, there is an entire community who can help work out those difficulties.

spectregunner is spot on. I move suggestions to the right place all the time, some of which are extremely far afield.

My suggestion to help find the right area to submit to: Do a search in dmoz.org for one or two keywords related to your site and look at the categories that come up. One is bound to be close, though you may need to try a couple of different keywords to get it. (Synonyms'll help.)

I'm surprised you're having so much trouble finding the right category in as much as you are a former editor including an ODP interview as well

I used to edit in Arts which is a whole different ballgame than business. I also realize the importance of getting the category right the first time around.

Thanks anyway!

Yeah, I tried that too  Transcription brought up medical categories :( For memory preservation, I don't think it quite fits in this category
Recreation: Living History: By Historical Region: North America: United States which appears to be only for military memories. It also doesn't fit with scrapbook, as it's not a how to scrapbook, but rather a provider of scrapbook and transcription services.

Thanks for the assistance though - I appreciate it!

I'm sorry but I didn't ask for a site review. I didn't include a URL. Since this appears to be a square peg, I was asking which might be the best round hole. :)

And without looking at a site, how could we possibly know where it might fit?

Which come first the chicken or the egg? We simply don't know the best cat for a site until we have reviewed the site.
