It seems as though the suggest a url and email a category editor have been unavailable forever!

Any news on when these will be back online guys? I find it very hard to believe that these are not online because of "Technical difficulties" as these are simple CGI scripts!!

The error page says :"We apologize for the inconvenience while we resolve technical problems. Please check back in a day or two"

A day or two? lol

As you could have read in the announcement (and in many other threads) we know that these functions are not available yet and we don't know when they will be available. There are still many more important features of DMOZ to be recovered before suggest url will be restored.

The only announcement I see is:

We are currently experiencing technical problems with our servers. Currently the public pages are static pages that have been generated from a backup. This means:

(1) the public pages do not reflect the most recent updates made to the directory;

(2) scripted pages, including site suggestion and application forms, are not functioning; and

(3) editors are unable to check the status of new editor applications.

Which doesn't shed any light on this!

Ok just found another thread under the related threads on this page.... Hmmmm still none the wiser!

You didn't read what's directly under what you quoted?
UPDATE: December 18, 2006 -- Editors have regained access to the editors server. However, the public ODP scripts (including site suggestion, update listing, editor application, and abuse reporting) are still not available and we currently have no ETA for their return. Please be patient and, again, we ask that you not start threads asking when those forms will be available again--we will update this announcement when we have further information. Thanks.

I am always amused by people who, without seeing a single line of code, nor having any idea as to our directory data schema, are ready to declare that they know more about how to fix our problems than the actual people who are working on it.

Buy 'em books, send 'em to school . . .

and they eat the teacher.
Dang, I hope not. My husband's a teacher, who'd take out the garbage? :D
