It means "suggesting that the dmoz.org editors might want to review a site". This forum is for general questions about site suggestions to dmoz.org, not for discussions about specific sites.

I tried to apply my site in dmoz and have been unsuccessful in doing so a couple of times. Suggest me an alternative way to do it????

What happened when you tried to send in the suggestion? Did you see an error message, a blank page, or something else? It's hard to know how to advise you without knowing what "unsuccessful" means :)

Free PR6 Directory Submission

Hi,
I have a PR6 Directory that I am offering Free, I have submitted My site Successfully two months ago. I can wait, but I would like to know where and how I may post the link for it here on RZ?

How long do you think It is taking to approve Directories at DMOZ?

Thanks
Paul

You may NOT post your URL here, which is why your previous posts were all deleted. It may take anywhere from days to years for a suggested to be reviewed.

It is possibly worth noting that the pagerank of a site has absolutely no bearing upon whether nor not a site can be listed, nor does pagerank prioritize a suggested site.

Similarly -- the nature of a site's offer (free versus paid) is also not a factor in determining if a site can be listed.

Could you suggest a forum / web link where we can inquire about a specific site? I submitted a site in September 2007 and I am still waiting for inclusion.

BTW, (on a personal level), the site is [URL removed] and after reading all the forums, I am still "scratching my head" over what I could've possibly done wrong to have to wait 4 months. Can you send a message into my mailbox (juanp) regarding the quandary I find myself in?

No, there is no such service offered anywhere (we tried it here, failed)

Inclusion is not guaranteed after a review has been completed. A review can take from minutes to years, and is entirely dependant upon an editor desiring to work in the category the site is listable within. Note suggesting a site to a category it is not listable in will delay any possible listing, as the primary review will merely sort the site to the correct category and will not usually be listed at that time (ie it will have to wait twice).
(on a personal level), the site is url.removed
Link drops are not appreciated. Period.
Can you send a message into my mailbox
No. Any information available is posted in open forum. Information provided on this forum is in general terms only.

Just to be clear, 4 months is not a particularly long time between a site suggestion and a review. So it's quite possible (highly likely in fact) that you haven't done anything wrong.

As you can imagine we get a lot of site suggestions and there is only a finite number of editors who volunteer their time to look at those suggestions. Adding new sites to the directory is by no means the only thing that editors need to do to improve the directory, and public suggestions aren't the only source of new sites available to editors.

Thanks for your response and "semi-encouraging" explanation. I understand the hope is the last thing to die, but I trust you can see that your (appreciated) reply hasn't given me that much more of it.

Sorry for "begging" for response to my mailbox, but I am new to this and (not to mention) at the end of my wits.
