Firstly please accept my apologies if this has been answered elsewhere, in fact I’m almost certain it has but can't seem to find it.

After reading through a few posts on here I get the impression that after suggesting a site you get an (automated?) email to say that your suggestion has been submitted and is waiting for review, is this true?

If so I haven't received an email saying as such. I'm fairly sure that after hitting the submit button the next page said the submission had been made, but no email as yet... if an email even gets sent...

Of course acceptance into dmoz can take from weeks to years and whilst I obviously don't want to resubmit, I don't really want to wait 2 years wondering if it was submitted at all!!!

Again i'm sorry if this has been done to the death. I'm sure you're all getting sick and tired of answering the same questions over and over and over again in this section of the forum

Thanks for your time ;)

No, it is not. A message is shown on screen to confirm the suggestion is received.

I assume with the number of posts you have and length of membership you know what you're talking about!

I have read lots of conflicting advice on this forum, so that's what got me confused.

So thank you pvgool

I'm sorry to hear that, because the last thing we want to do here is to confuse people. There has never been an email confirmation of site suggestions, and I don't think I've ever seen a post in this forum that claims that there is - but I haven't read all the posts ;)

Perhaps you were reading about editor applications? There is an automated email response to all applications to become an editor, where the applicant needs to respond to confirm that they had actually made the application and that the email address works. But that is the only email confirmation there is.

Don't assume that -- this isn't your typical forum. Instead of looking at the length of time someone has been a member here or the number of posts they've made here in order to determine their credibility, look at the forum group they belong to. DMOZ editors will show as being in a group such as Editor, Editall, or Catmod rather than in one of the basic forum groups like Members. Usually people with large numbers of posts will be editors (or former editors), but that may not always be the case. :)
