tamingthebeast.net - description change

Hello,

Thank you for making this board available for queries.

I have enjoyed a DMOZ listing for a couple of years now. Over that time a number of changes have been made to my site:

http://www.tamingthebeast.net

The site is listed in the appropriate category:

http://dmoz.org/Business/Marketing_and_Advertising/Internet_Marketing/Resources/

Since the changes, I have submitted new descriptions on a couple of occasions over the last year (? - not sure on time), but haven't been successful in having the listing updated.

I would appreciate any assistance/advice.

Thank you.

I see you have an update request pending in that category dated 17/Apr/2003 15:35:46 MDT. That category is VERY backlogged and has hundreds and hundreds of requests pending. Hopefully someone will get to it soon. As mentioned in many threads, editors are not required to edit in any order. I tend to take update requests first, as they take less time...it is possible you may not have to wait long. It is also possible that it will take awhile, there is no way to know. Hopefully someone familiar in this area will come along soon. The only status that can be given at this time is that your request is pending.

Hi,

Thanks for your super prompt response - greatly appreciated.

I have tried applying for editor status for that category, but the reviewers may have felt that it would be a severe conflict of interest - which is understandable. I might take another shot at it as I really feel that I could bring something to the category and not just to advantage myself.

Thanks again for your response - I'm glad to know that it's pending and it wasn't for another reason.

Regards,

Michael

I think it is great you are considering applying to be an editor, we always need help! I do think that category is far too big for you to be successful on a first time application and if you applied before that is likely part of the reason for denial. I would look for a category that has no more than 50 or so sites in it (including subcategories below). You can find valuable suggestions here: Becoming an Editor . You can always use that category as something to work towards.

Good luck!!!
