Dear editors,

Could you kindly help me to find out the status of our website
http://www.metal-part.com/ I submitted it to http://dmoz.org/Business/Industrial_Goods_and_Services/Casting,_Molding,_Machining/ more than one month ago.As there comes back internal server error when adding url during these weeks,we couldn't submit once more after three weeks.We'd like to know whether we submitted to right catalogue and our submission was received in the queue. How long is the queue at this time?

Your site appears to have been submitted a week ago (25 May 2003). If you resubmitted, it overwrote earlier submissions. There is no need to resubmit, as your site is awaiting review. As this category has a very large unreviewed pool, I suggest that you wait at least two or three months before checking back again. If and when you do, please re-use this thread.

Why do people always assume that a category with a shorter queue will mean that they will get a quicker listing? No, it just doesn't happen that way. Some 100+ categories see more editor action than places with less then 10 sites waiting. You never can tell.

The advice is to Submit to the *one* best category, and then get on with your life. If you submit to an inapropriate category, then the editor will eventually get to your site submission and will then simply have to add it to the end of the queue in the correct category. So, you wasted all that time in the wrong category, only to be moved back to the place you tried to avoid.

Sorry, that's how it is. It is in the queue. It will be reviewed eventually. The review might lead to it being listed. That is all we can say.

No further action is required by you, but if you do want to know the status of your site at some future time you are welcome to ask again in this thread in at least a couple of months time (bookmark it to be sure).

Could I ask whether the site is in the queue of the directory,

or in one of its subdirectory.
As I tried many times,can't access in
http://dmoz.org/Business/Industrial_Goods_and_Services/Casting,_Molding,_Machining/ ,but happened to be accepted in one of its subdirectory once when I tried to find out the problem. I am sorry, I can't remember it.

Like I said above, it is awaiting review in that category. You can't see it, because it isn't listed yet -- it is in the unreviewed pool. As far as I can tell, it is not listed anywhere, has never been listed, and has not been looked at by an editor (except that I just deleted a duplicate submission in this category, leaving one for review). You can check the status again by posting in this thread after at least one month (but a couple of months would be better).

Still awaiting review. This appears to be a very popular category, with several hundred other unreviewed sites also waiting, so it may take a while. I'd suggest waiting several months before checking again, in order to save you some time and effort. Sorry the news isn't better.
