This question has probably been answered multiple times so if I am wasting your time, apology in advance, but it's bugging me...

Can people other than the site's owner suggest a site?

My feeling is that I don't see why not but what if a site owner is unaware that other's are suggesting his/her site for them?

Is this looked upon as spam?

I ask this because there are several websites 'out there' that I think should be included. Am I wrong to suggest them for fear they have already been suggested?

Can someone clarify?

Definitely yes - editors do it all the time .

If I come across a site that I think should be included and suggest it but unbeknown to me it has already been suggested by the owner of the site and maybe an editor and maybe even Aunt Maybelline down the road, how does the ODP sit with that scenario?

Does each suggestion overwrite the previous one as I'm lead to believe?

What if the url's submitted were with the "www." or without the "www."?

Or should I just shutup, move on, forget this drivel and suggest a site if I come across one that I think should be included?

... by the same person! (or persons in a co-ordinated effort).

It´s perfectly fine for different individuals in the world to suggest the same site.

The exact details of the site-suggesting process is better not discussed here.

No need for the frist 3 (shutup, move on, forget) but certainly yes for the last one. Please suggest all sites you think are worthwhile. This is the initial intention of DMOZ. People suggesting sites they know and think are worthwhile (these suggestions are mostly of high quality), not people suggesting their own site (these are mostly of low quality).

I suppose it's theoretically possible that so many different people suggested the same site that it constituted spam. But I've never seen it happen.

Hey, worry about the sort of disasters that are more likely to happen (says an editor from tornado alley (east Texas) after a night without electricity).
