Just thought I would share my experience.
I offered my services to help out with a small section of ODP. I have been in internet marketing for 10+ years now and I thought I could contribute and help keep the system afloat - especially in light of some recent press saying the directory is not being taken so seriously by the major engines anymore.

My application was turned down - fair enough. But the reason was:

"Thank you very much for your application. The ODP relies on enthusiastic volunteers such as yourself. Unfortunately it appears that you have not fully disclosed your affiliated websites in the section entitled, "Sites with which you are associated." Affiliated websites include those that you own, market, assist with, have written content for, maintain, etc.
I encourage you to apply again, being sure to fully disclose your affiliations."

Now, given that I have had over 10 years had associations with probably over 500 websites, and have at least 150 domains on my dedicated server at the moment, I stated my major/personal domains on the form and explained there were too many to list (or even remember!!)

It just strikes me as strange. Refuse me because they felt I had a vested interest - that could make sense. But because my 'associated sites' go back 10+ years?

Oh well, back to work.

Hi Drian,
This is an issue which affects web professionals applying to be editors.
We expect all domains controlled by an applicant to be listed in the "affiliations" box of the form...
But obviously when there are hundreds this becomes impractical.
Ideally providing a link to a web page or a csv file would be suitable, or alternatively PM a meta editor here for further advice.
The application was certainly not refused for the age of the affiliations
