We have submitted a few times in 5 years and no luck in terms of getting listed. Only 2 of our competitors are listed and we want to be listed in the exact same location which is the right category matching what we sell online.
it is very frustrating as we get no response from DMOZ at all. We are not a small site but a large one. All this garbage about not submitting multiple times. It seems like some categories have editors and some dont and that means if our category has no editor then we are out of luck. I wouldn't complain but it is not waiting 6 months but 5 years with no luck. Some people have told me they have had to fricking pay the editor in their category to get listed. Thats a crime right there. Our category doesn't seem to even have an editor for us to even pay. If it does in Home and Garden or Home improvement then who do we pay to get listed. I am tired of waiting and ready to pay to get listed. Its one thing if someone says it will be 6 more weeks or something, but here we have heard nothing. We submitted probably 3 times in 5 years and nothing.
I cant wait for all the helpful comments to come my way about what we haven't done properly. I am waiting with my check. Lets get this done.

DMOZ is not a listing service for webmasters, there is no way to "get listed". Suggesting your site does not guarantee a listing. Sites submitted by the public are only one tool that editors can use to build a category.

DMOZ does not notify site owners when their site has been listed or reviewed. Editors are discouraged from contacting webmasters because past experience has shown it is generally counter-productive.

It seems like some categories have editors and some dont and that means if our category has no editor then we are out of luck.
There are around 200 editors who have the ability to edit anywhere in the directory, also any editor who has editing permissions higher up the category tree, can edit all categories below. So technically every category in the directory has an editor, just not a listed editor.

I understand you are frustrated but I'm afraid this is the fastest way to ensure your site will never be listed. Offering money in exchange for a listing is contrary to our Social Contract. Editors who accept money to list a site will be removed and webmasters who offer editors money in exchange for a listing can expect to never see their site listed in DMOZ.

I am waiting with my check. Lets get this done.
I suggest you put your check away and forget about DMOZ, you have suggested your site and that is all you need to do. It is best to forget about DMOZ now and look for other means of promoting your site.

The consequences of offering to bribe an editor can be read all over the internet, but they obviously need repeating yet again, so let me highlight the following from photofox's post:
Editors who accept money to list a site will be removed and webmasters who offer editors money in exchange for a listing can expect to never see their site listed in DMOZ.
Yes, that's right. Webmasters who try to bribe editors risk having all their sites permanently banned from DMOZ.
