I recently submitted a request to have my Wife's Website 'www.touringforlove.com' listed in the 'http://dmoz.com/Recreation/Travel/Specialty_Travel/Singles/' category. Can someone tell me the status of it?

Can we have the site URL edited into the message title and a clickable link to the category please?

Re: Status of url

No hurry to edit the category to a clickable link. The submission was made only 6 days ago.

Please see the "Forum Guidelines - READ BEFORE POSTING" thread at the top of this forum. We ask that you wait "at least" one month after submitting for a status check.

Please bookmark this thread and ask sometime after 3 Sep 2003?

[Added to save time and trouble]

It is most unlikely that this site will be listed in the directory as http://www.cruisingforlove.com is already listed in the same category.

Not exactly sure when you say 'Can we have the site URL edited into the message title and a clickable link to the category please?'
If you mean the name of the url (touringforlove.com) put into the description, no problem, I just did. As far as a 'clickable link to the category' I'm lost. Please explain and I'll do whatever it takes. I do appreciate that you took the time to respond to my post.

Don't understand why my other site (cruisingforlove.com) would affect the listing of my new site 'touringforlove.com). If its because I have a reciprocal link to 'cruisingforlove.com' on 'touringforlove.com’, no problem. I can remove it. Please advise.

See the guidelines as to what is stated for mirrors, doorways, redirects, affiliate sites, and businesses who spread their content over multiple domains.

Thay all have one thing in common. The ODP does not list them.

Didn’t realize I was breaking the rules. The site ‘cruisingforlove.com’ is specific to singles cruise and ‘touringforlove.com’ for land tours. I can see now, by cross-linking them was a no, no. I went ahead and remove those cross-links from both sites. I apologize for that and assure you it will not happen again. I appreciate your reply and guidance. If this now meets ODP guidelines will I need to resubmit the ‘add url request’?

I'm afraid it's not the cross-linking that was the problem. Spreading a business over several domains does not make it eligible for multiple listings in the same category.

Gee, this is becoming real challenging. If I requested it be listed in the 'http://dmoz.com/Recreation/Travel/Travel_Agents/'
category, will this be acceptable?.

My guess would be probably not.

Your optimum course of action is probably to design and promote a single site for your business. You may get some advantages from having multiple sites, but extra dmoz listings won't be one of them.

These two separate sites are subsidies of ‘Tres Chic Events Inc’. The reasons for two sites are:
Some people who would like to take a cruise are afraid to fly and visa versa for those who would fly. This would make it much easier for these people to search the specific type of trip that they would like to take. This is why, my wife ‘Ann’ ask me to this. Now I’ll have to wait for her to return from her trip to Alaska to ring my neck. What is a husband to do?

In order to have my site (touringforlove.com) listed and to obey all rules, I came across these following guidelines:

· Deeplinks, Mirrors, and Affiliates - Travel sites aggressively employ these tactics in an attempt to obtain multiple listings. Editors should not list sites which do not offer unique content. Travel affiliates are an especially large management problem; editors can find assistance using internal tools.

I would like to restate that my wife’s two sites are unique to different types of travel. Please check out to verify.

And
Site Placement Guidelines
Guidelines in this section are intended to assist with the placement of travel sites by their type. Editors should use their discretion to make exceptions to these guidelines where it makes sense.
I would still like to have this site posted in the 'http://dmoz.com/Recreation/Travel/Specialty_Travel/Singles/' category if possible.

I welcome your response and appreciate your time and effort.

Please read the guidelines for this forum. In them, you will find the sentence "If your site has been rejected, please keep in mind that arguing about the editorial decision will not be tolerated."

I'm really sorry that we weren't able to give you an answer you like, but I'm not going to waste any time arguing about it.

Re: Status of www.touringforlove.com/

Your wife is a "travel agent" and provides services to customers. Most all travel agents provide a variety of offers to compliment its customers' needs.

IMO, all services business offers should be incorporated into one site and one listing for that particular agent and not a listing for each type of service it provides.

Real Estate agents don't get a listing for each type of property they sell.

An examples of why it will not happen is:

Say your wife has many different websites. One each for singles land, singles air, singles sea, couples land, couples air, couples sea, threesomes air, threesomes land, threesomes sea, land tours for families, air tours for families, sea cruises for families, and sea cruises for cats that won't be returned.

They're all submitted to http://dmoz.com/Recreation/Travel/Specialty_Travel/ . The category only has 20 listings and most of them would be her business. Content is duplicated even though it's separate tours/cruises and it isn't going to happen.

Sorry, but the best advice I can give is to have a neck brace fitted before she returns... ;)

I see your point. If I appeared to be arguing in the previous postings, I sincerely apologize to all editors involved. I was only trying to follow the guidelines, as I understood them. I’m going to have to sleep on this and figure out how to resolve this issue, if I can. Thanks you for your response.
Charlie
P.s. All I need to do now, is find a hiding place from my wife.
