There are two things you can do to facilitiate this request:

1. Use the Update URL form to request the change.
2. Have the old site indicate the change to the new name. this way the editor can look at the old site and know that it is not being hijacked.

Once you have done your part, it makes it relatively easy for us to do our part.

Thanks for the advice. But please let me know, how do i indicate the change of site name. Do i put a redirection on my old home page? or do i facilitate that www.juniors.net home page opens even if i type www.juniorszone.com in the address bar?

Since both sites are identical and they both point to the same IP address, you should have no problem. It is much easier for us, however, if you put a redirection on the old page; it gives us absolute proof that everything is valid.

There are two routes, both of which you should take.

1) Put the 301 permanent redirection in. This will cause our spider, which runs every few months, to flag your site for IMMEDIATE attention (that is, within the next month it will 100% guaranteed be looked at by a live editor.)

2) Put the "Update URL" request in, and make sure that someone looking at the home page can see what its "favored URI" is. That way, whether the live editor is attracted by your UU request or your 301, he can immediately see what the right action is.

GanderATC is, unfortunately giving inoperative advice. Ignore him. There are two routes, both of which you should take....

The reason we can't look at your two sites is: any website thief could go in, copy someone ELSE's website, and then submit an "update URL" request to steal the other person's ODP listing also.

So we have a protocol: if the old site is still up, and doesn't self-identify as the new URL, then we do not change the listing. That protects you webmasters from website thieves, and it protects us from many frivolous update URL requests.

By the wey, this forum is not a place where you can ask for changes to be made. It is only for general discussion of ODP issues, such as explaining how you CAN ask for those changes.

[Moved from another thread]

From vaniaul

Hi Everyone!

My URL www.juniorszone.com is presently listed in Dmoz at: Top: Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: Education: Schools: Primary: Key Stage 2 (9). But it has been changed to www.juniors.net. Now I want this to be updated in Dmoz as well.

Now I've used 301 permanent redirect and the old domain self-identify the new URL. And I've also filled the Update URL form, today only. I want to know, How long will it take for the changes to take effect? I'm keen on this because it'll also help for Google to fasten the changes.

Kindly guide me in this matter!

P.S: I've done exactly what was asked by 'hutcheson' in the earlier discussion

Waiting for your reply!

Oops, sorry! In order to make up for that, I just approved the change of URL. You should be able to see it in the next few days (depending on when the public pages update).

Heh, tuisp you have responded 1440 times in this forum, and have probably read at least 14 000 posts in that same time, so no problem on mis-reading the odd word here and there (and especially if English is not your first language).
