I have been trying for a year to get my website into the odp. I was wondering if it is not getting in because it is a new commercial product and is slowly coming to market. The category I am applying to is small compared to some of the categories in the project. I am just wondering if my site is being rejected for some reason, or if it is just taking a long time to wade through submissions. Since we are not allowed to post specific sites in the forum I was wondering if anyone would mind me pm'ing them the url for them to look at and give me some feedback on what they think the issue is. I really don't think it is lack of unique content because this is a product that is unlike anything else on the market. Thanks in advance.

There is a common misconception (based on a very basic misunderstanding of the ODP) that it is possible to "get" a website listed. It is not, because DMOZ is not a listing service, and sites suggested by non-editors are nothing more than one resource editors can use if they wish.

So fortunately, volunteers are under no obligation at all to
wade through submissions.
They are free to review suggestions if they wish, but there are many other ways they can find worthwhile sites, and often with more success.

That is not a service we provide, because webmasters can easily see for themselves if their site meets the criteria for inclusion, so it would be a waste of time for a volunteer to have to repeat it.

If you have checked that your site is suitable, and suggested it once to the most appropriate category, that is all you need to do regarding this directory, and you are now free to continue improving your site and promoting it in other ways. :)

BTW I presume you read the suggestion instructions carefully, which warn that excessively repeated suggestions can result in a permanent ban, because they are not only completely unnecessary but waste everyone's time.
