I have been trying to get listed for a couple of years.I have a very simple easy to use light weight tool for removing snow from roofs without heavy lifting or pulling and not like anything out there.Could not getting listed have anything to do with our companys name being the same as two others listed on DMOZ.The names are spelled the same and both are LLC s.We are not the same products and not connected at all.How do I keep trying to list if this is stopping me from listing?Any ideas? Thank You Nickn <url removed>

We list websites here, not company names. We distinguish between them by looking at their unique URLs (web addresses).

We aren't in the slightest bit confused if two different websites happen to be owned by two different companies which happen to have the same name or website title. (I can see how potential customers might be though).

This might not be relevent in your case but if a company has several different products and has created a website using multiple domain names - one for each product - we'd normally just list the main company website and none of its individual products.

Thank you for your responce. Its a relief knowing that wasn't the problem.
Would there be a way of finding out the problem or do we just submit again?

No I'm afraid theres no way to find out, as we don't give status checks anymore.

That depends on how often you have submitted before and to how many categories you have submitted.

A second submission to the most relevant single category would not cause a problem.

It would be a good idea to first check your site against the guidelines and other sites in the category, to see if you can see any reason why it might not be listed. (If there is a name confusion, then whether the ODP gets confused doesn't matter as much as if your potential customers get confused:) ).

If you have a physical prescence (e.g. store or manufactury) in a location you may also submit once to the appropriate regional category.

Jim and Eric,
Thanks for the quick reply. It has been a question on my mind for quite some time now.
It's good to know that there is someone out there to help with my questions. <url removed>
