Two Applications

Hello,

I submitted an application to become an editor approximately 1 week ago. I received an email asking me to validate my email but the action timed out. I reloaded the email and was greeted with a 'not a valid key' message. Initially I thought perhaps I had received that message since I applied with a free email account. After reading through the forums today I realize what happened.

I waited about a week for a response just in case, but decided to submit another application yesterday under a different email address. Verification was successful, but shortly after I received an email rejecting my first application. It seems my first email address was indeed verified. This email contained an editor comment stating 'one application at a time, please.

I wanted to visit the forums to clear up the reason for my second application, and make apparent my intentions. ;)

1st application: <email>
2nd application: <email>

Thank you!

Keith

Thanks for the explanation, if you don't hear anything in a couple of weeks, by all means bump this thread, adding the information required... :)

Hello again, Elper!

Just dropped in to do a (one-time) status check on my application as advised.

ODP category: http://www.dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Washington/Localities/B/Bellevue/Health/Alternative/Chiropractic/

Application editor name: kmcgahey (Keith McGahey)

Application date: September 26, 2011

Thank you again for your help!

I can find no record of any applications ever for that category or with that user name or using the email address that you use on this forum.

Did you receive and reply to the email verification message that would have been sent shortly after you applied? Until that transaction completes, an application is invisible to us mere humans.

If you did receive that message, please reply to it again and tell us what the response is.
If you didn't, check your spam filters and let us know if you find it there.

Whitelisting all emails from the dmoz.org can help prevent accidents :).

Thanks for your response, Jim.

The application mentioned in this post was the second one I submitted in about a week's time. I thought there was an issue with my first application after submitting under a gmail account (my long-winded story up top), so I submitted the second application under the email address associated with my forum account.

The email for my second application (the one I use for this forum) was confirmed successfully. Immediately after submitting that second application, I received an email to my gmail/first account stating my first application was not approved.
================
EDIT: In that email disapproving my application was a note from an editor:

Reviewer Comments:

Only one application at a time, please
================
I'm wondering now if my second application was deleted at that time since I submitted under 2 email accounts? My second submission was based on a misunderstanding with the first and not in an attempt to spam or be a pain in the butt. :p

Luckily in my old age I've learned to save my work - I have a copy of my application on my desktop just in case.

Just curious what I should do from this point.

Thanks again for your help,

Keith

I believe I've located traces of your applications - both were rejected - but the bad servers seem to have eaten the reason(s)...
Imo it would be best to reapply, making sure the three sample sites fit in the category, and that the titles and descriptions follow the editing style guidelines.

Thanks Elper, I will do just that. I appreciate your input.
