My wife Judy and I share our website www.art-paintings.info but we are entirely different artists.
I sell my oil and acrylic paintings ...and I can see which category would suit this.
Judy is a paper and book artist - for which there is no clear category. Furthermore her primary interest is not in selling....although she does offer tuition for a fee.
Her art does not fit the category 'Assemblage art' because it is not about altering books, it is about using all manner of material to build small sculptural type objects with a book connatation - including pulping material to make paper.

Finally, even if we can find a satisfactory category how do we deal with the overall classification of our site which is equally split between us? Cheers Jim

I would suggest submitting it twice - once for each person to the most appropriate category for the person - and add a note explaining the circumstances. Put a different title on each submission - Barrass, Jim on one and Barrass, Judy on the other with the appropriate description for each.

....ummm...I tried adding a note about the circumstances and the submission was rejected with this error:-

My submission said:
'Paintings undertaken for direct sale or on commission to complement interior design for both private and corporate clients, with tuition also offered to artists.

(Note to Editor/Moderator - this site is shared equally between Jim Barrass and Judy Barrass...who have completely different artwork. At the suggestion of an ODP editor the site has been submitted also as 'Barrass Judy- paper and book art'.) '

The rejection said:
'Please rewrite your site description to fit the guidelines on the submission form. Remember that descriptions must be brief'

Do you have any idea how I might dea l with this? Cheers Jim.

Jim, try it without any line spaces between the description and the brackets.

Well, maybe it is just too long. I'm not really sure, because we get descriptions with notes to editors in Brackets, so that is not the problem within itself. But since it says brief description, maybe you could find a way to say it in fewer words. I'm afraid I'm not much help here.

Thanks again Dogbows. Yes I tried removing the brackets but got rejected again. I'll see if I can hone it down a bit. Cheers Jim

Okay guys I honed it down till there's almost nothing left of the description but I got the note to the Big Editor in there..... It's sort of like spending 10% of your time writing the assignment and 90% of the time on the note explaining why you didn't have the time to do the assignment adequately! :)

Ah, yes, but from our perspective, the suggested descriptions are almost never used, so we would rather have you tell us what is going on with a potentially confusing submission -- that way we understand what is happening and don't jump to the wrong conclusion.
