Hi!
We are a well known open source software project (at present we have almost 10,000 downloads per months) and so I also tried to get our site listed in the dmoz directory in the according directory.
So two years ago i submitted the site a first time.
Nothing.. absolutely nothing happened.
After 6 months I submitted a second application - at that time I thought I had made a mistake in my wording or something and therefore my application was denied.
Same thing happened: Nothing.
And still I blamed myself or the workload on the editors.
So I put in application as an editor for that specific category. This time (after three more months) I got notified that my application was denied because there are enough editors.
I tried 2 months ago for a last time to get listed. Same result.
So my question: If there are enough editors for that particular category why does my site not get listed and why do I not get any information on why it would not be listed in 2 years?
Now here comes the very bad part: As our open source software is a very strong competitor to commercial tools (and almost the only one being open source in that category) I really suspect that I am at disposal of an editor that is suppressing us to get listed because that editor is siding another software.
I know that is a very strong accusation and I would be very glad if this could be disproved.
I would be very thankful if I could get any advice how to proceed from here.
You can also contact me by PM here on the board if you wish to discuss in private.
Thank you for any help and understanding.
Regards
Carsten
