Iam enquiring regarding the above posting to dmoz
I get the distinct impression my website is being overlooked.
I entered the site http://www.ukdiscountgolfclubs.co.uk in golf equipment section of DMOZ , is it possible to provide me with an update

That would not have been the appropriate category. If you read the category description http://dmoz.org/Business/Consumer_Goods_and_Services/Sporting_Goods/Golf/Clubs/desc.html it plainly states
Sites having any method of selling to the general public online should listed at Shopping/Sports/Golf

you are not eligible for shopping (only companies that deliver internationally or to the contiguous US are permitted a Shopping listing).

As you are UK specific I'd suggest somewhere like UK Shopping Sports Golf

If you have a physical store then probably submit to your locality as well.

Regarding your existing submission - it has not yet been reviewed by an editor, but is most likely to be forwarded to one of these categories when it is reviewed (based on the content I can see).

Yes it's in a small pile of unreviewed websites there. I can't predict when we'll get around to it, but we will eventually.

Please wait for at least a month before enquiring again.

thanks for your input, "Calif" , however i was asking my good friend from the UK !!! Iam sure he can answer for himself, and he will probably say the same as you. Until then thanks for your time in reading my posting.

It doesn't matter who answers your question - this is a public forum and anyone is entitled to post. If you really object to getting a quicker answer from someone else then you should take your discussion to private email.

And I'm sure Jim would have given the same response, as would I.

It is a month now I have waited patiently , I have checked dmoz daily and have not seen my site, could someone check he status please (it was in a small pile one month ago)

Many editors write back to me saying please wait etc.

What I dont understand is how an editor in the States can inform me that my posting is in a pile waiting to be reviewed. Of course my site has been entered in a UK Directory.

Im not too bothered an iam prepared to wait ,however the question is "Who is going to review my site" Is there a specific person assigned to my category or is it pot luck. And if my listing is in a small pile, why would (not why has) it take so long to review.

Please note that this is not a "slagging off" posting, merely a simple enquiry.

Where an editor is physically located bears no relation to which categories he or she can edit in or see the status of. In the various Regional categories, chances are that it is a person in the country in question who will do the editing, but there are no rules about this. And to inform you that your site is waiting all the editor needs is the right privileges, which are given to editors without regard for nationality :)

And there is no way at all to tell who will review a particular site submission. It will probably be an editor listed in Regional/UK but it could equally well be an editall or meta editor. We are all volunteers - and there is the answer to why it takes so long; nobody is forced to do anything in a particular order. Sometimes a big pile of unreviewed is worked through much quicker than a small one, by a dedicated editor.

Hope that brought some clarity to the matter :cool:

The site has been listed in that category since Oct 22. If you do not see it listed that means the public side of the directory has not been updated yet but it should show up the next time that happens.
