Unable to send reinstatement form

O

optimale

I wanted to submit the 'Request Reinstatement of Editor Account' form, but as soon as I press the submit button I get a popup window requesting a username and password which comes back indefinitely. I entered the username/password for my previous editor account but that doesn't help (the password should be correct as I just received it from the password reminder tool).
The editor name is optimale.

Any idea how I can get the form to submit?
Thanks very much.

It's sort of hard to verify this one since I don't have a userid that needs to be reinstated :) But I'll pass on this info.

Do me a favour. Restart your browser and try it again. Or try it with a different browser. Let me know what browsers are showing the problem so that I'll have more info to pass on.

Sorry to jump in, but another point that might (or might not) be relevant...

Is the form you accessed at editors.dmoz.org or at dmoz.org ?

The former mentioned server used to hold the public scripts, but has recently been password protected when they moved to dmoz.org.

I believe that the latter is now the correct one to use, but it is possible that there is a link directed to the wrong place somewhere in the system, that now takes you to the wrong form.

It may also be that this has nothing whatsoever to do with the problem. Just an idea I had, when I saw "password" being mentioned.

Hi thanks for the answers and for passing the problem on donaldb.
Actually the userid is the same as the mentioned editor name: optimale

The problem happened on two different computers, even after restarting the browsers, so I don't think the browser is the problem.

The login request indeed comes from editors.dmoz.org as qiz suspected. The form itself (http://dmoz.org/reinstate.html) is accessed from dmoz.org but it is submitted to editors.dmoz.org
<form method="post" action="http://editors.dmoz.org/cgi-bin/reinstate.cgi">

So that might well be the problem.

Did you try again today? There were various issues with various servers over the last couple of days but I'm actually seeing one reinstatement rquest from someone else in the queue from yesterday so it's not a universal problem. Now that the other server and script issues are being cleaned up, this one might be too.

Someone else just reported this problem, so I'm assuming it is still around. I see a few new reinstatement applications so it must still be hit and miss. I'll report back if it looks like this gets fixed.

Yes the problem still exists and is most likely caused by the fact that a password is required when editors.dmoz.com is accessed (while dmoz.org is freely accessible).

Lets just wait until it gets fixed instead of posting work-arounds :)
