Unable to send Reinstatement Form

Y

yannt

Hi,

For weeks I have been trying to submit my reinstatement form, without any luck. The problem occurs when I click the submit button and get redirected to editors.dmoz.org with a prompt to enter my username and password, which of course does not work. Any idea WHEN this bug will be resolved?

I have mentioned this problem on these forums several times already, yet it seems like nothing is being done. It is highly unprofessional to keep ignoring this issue, especially when ex-editors in good standing, like myself, are ready and willing to resume their editorial functions. My patience with the ODP has worn thin.

For the nth time, I ask that you please resolve this matter as quickly as possible. It has been ignored long enough.

My understanding is that this should be fixed and working as of 18:00 GMT today. Please let us know if it still does not work for you.

I'm still unable to submit the reinstatement form... same problem.

Just to verify, you get a dialogue box that asks you to log on to editors.dmoz.org? What is your editor name, "yannt"?

I've put in a bug report on this, and the more specific information we can get, the better.

My editor name is yannt.

The problem is exactly how you describe it. Plus, after entering my username and password in the dialogue box and then clicking "OK", an error screen with the following message appears:

----------
Authorization Required

This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn't understand how to supply the credentials required.

Additionally, a 401 Authorization Required error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
----------

Thanks.

I can now access my account. The only remaining item is that my editor name (yannt) does not appear at the bottom of my category Windows XP FAQs, Help, and Tutorials -- the name "yannt" has for some reason been replaced with "Volunteer to edit this category". This makes it seem like I don't exist as editor of my category. Any way to get it back to the original state?

Thanks for all the help.

Your name is on the editor side. The public side will be updated within a few days.

FWIW, the reinstatement form was still down yesterday. I experience the same things as outlined above when I tried to fill out the form last night.

It no longer prompts me to login, but now I get a 404 error. I understand that this is a more common error and that despite it some submissions still get through.

Keep trying and try at off-peak times. That is probably an indication that the system is very busy. It is still being tuned, and is a work in progress.

It appears to have worked. While I did receive a message saying I had been reinstated, I have yet to log in successfully. The system does not recognise my login information. Does it take a while for reinstatement to take effect?

I believe it may take up to 12 hours for the login information to propogate to all servers. My understanding is that you should be able to logon to http://editors.dmoz.org right away. (Hopefully someone will set me straight if I'm wrong.) So if you can't logon there, something might be wonky. Is your password 8 characters or more?

You were wrong :) You might be thinking of passwords syncing with the forum passwords.

There are still a few problems with passwords for editors being reinstated. Kim managed to log in after I reset his password.

Thanks for setting me straight. :)

It was the forum server I was thinking of when I said the thing about 12 hours. But I didn't express it well.
