Hello.
I've submitted my site many upon many times. Why is it still not listed? I'm pretty sure I followed the rules correctly.
Can I get some help?
Well by *submitting many upon many times* you have allready failed to follow the guidelines which specifically (and clearly) instruct you to submit once to the single best sub-category.

Without the URL and category suggested, no one will be able to give you any information. You must read the ATTENTION:posting Guidelines-READ BEFORE POSTING message and go to the appropriate status request thread to find out what is going on with your particular site.

Keep in mind that the ODP is not a listing service and simply suggesting a site for inclusion does not guarantee a listing (again do not know site or category so this is just for information only) in the directory. The suggestion will eventually be reviewed by a volunteer editor for guideline compliance and content. It will either be moved to a better location, listed or deleted if it doesn't meet the needs of the directory.

Click on the links in my signature for submission help and more information.

Per the Forum rules already mentioned, you need to take your request to the proper thread and post your status update request there. Thank you for properly formatting it, it will be much appreciated in the appropriate thread which I belieive would be Computers.

Go ahead and post your request there and someone will be able to shed some light on it for you if it has been longer than a month from your last suggestion. At this point, do not resubmit unless specifically asked to by an editor in these forums.

Thanks.

Threads sorted out (I think). Dontcha just hate a moving target?

Your suggestion has been received and is awaiting review. We can't predict when that might be. If it hasn't been listed in 6 months from today, please ask again in this same thread.

I'm sorry for the early bump. I know it has not been six months.

But I just heard the news of status checks being killed near the end of May... So, what's the best recommened course of action? Wait till September and resubmit?

The best course of action is, as it has always been, to follow the submittal policies. Submit, once (maybe twice) to the most relevant category; done.

Will this guarantee a listing? No, there is nothing you can do to coerce an editor to list a site.

Does this represent your website in the best possible light? Yes.

Does it offer the least opportunity for it to be rejected by editor mistake or for submitter abuse? Yes.

Dalponis,

Let me recap - you have been told earlier in this thread that a suggestion of the URL has been received.

At some point in the future it will be reviewed by an editor, who will decide whether to list it or not.

Submissions do not "go away", nor do they "expire". Resubmitting a site that has already been received does absolutely nothing to speed up the time it takes for an editor to start reviewing the site and it may, in some cases, actually further delay it.

And this applies whether this forum is here or not. You are one of the ones who have been told that the submission was received - you need do nothing more.

I understand fully the urge to "do something" and, if it makes you feel better, please go ahead. I just wanted to do a little "expectation management for you".

The best thing you can do to get your site reviewed in the shortest possible time is... nothing.

Hope this is clear and saves you some effort.

It would give slightly different advice, I have a few regulars, who seem to have nothing better to do that resubmit their sites every month. Chances are they will never get listed because given a choice of reviewing them or one of the other 1000 sites waiting to be reviewde in the same category area, I'd rather give the other guys a chance since they played by the rules. So they guy that made 14 submisions of his site this year, routinely gets his share of my time, I delete his previous submission, then go to the next site to be reviewed.

Another reason is that I find there is a correlation between multiple submissions and sites that should not be listed, if they make multiple submissions, they also tend to submit multiple mirror sites, so they will need to be looked at more carefully.

Ok, so the question is:

When/how do I know if it was not accepted?

I mean, I check the site, if it's there, it's there no big deal and I thank DMOZ. If it is not there, how do I know its still awaiting edit or possible was denied and deleted?

You do not.

You do not know.

But now a question to you - what different actions do you take if you WERE to somehow know that the site had been reviewed and not been accepted? Do you do any differently than knowing that it still awaits review?

Resubmitting won't do any good - if it got refused once it will be refused again. Editors will not get into a discussion about WHY something didn't get listed in the directory...

So I'm not sure what use the information is to you.

The only thing I can see is my affliate list...
