Hi, I listed my web site Feb 2009 for review, but want to check the directory catergory entered at that time, how do I do this ?

The catergory , I should habe listed i.e Recreation & Sports may have been incorrect i.e Sporting Gundog group if there any moderators for these catergorys, I would appreciate your advice thanks.

When an editor reviews a suggestion and thinks it should be listed in another category he will move it to that category.
No need to worry, it is something we are used to happen.

Thank you very much for your reply. It so long ago I cannot remeber which sub directory I listed in the application.

I checked the sub catergory of Top Shopping Pets Cats and Dogs Dogs Activities Gun Dog and Hunting and their is only 8 sites listed, why does it take so long with so few listed?

I belive I may have listed my web site under Top > Recreation > Pets > Dogs > Breeds > Sporting-Gundog Group i n this group their are many more sites

I presume each directory section only has one moderator?

I am not a professional web site producer, yet I have manged to get my site listed on Yahoo, Google & Bing on top of the first page for working gundogs, this is probably more to do with luck, but I would appreciate your advice on this issue.

Thank you. Stewart

The number of current listings has no effect on te review of a suggested websites.

> I presume each directory section only has one moderator?
No, that is not correct. All categories can be managed by some 200 editors. But "can" does not mean "will".
Editors work when, where and as much as they prefer themself. They can look at suggested website but are not forced to do so.

DMOZ is not about promoting websites.
There is nothing you can do (except suggesting a website, which you have already done).

Thank you for your reply. I am aware DMOZ does nothing to promote a web site, as mentioned I already have a presence on Google, Yahoo & Bing that most others would be envious of!

All I want is to get a listing in the largest web directory DMOZ, I am aware Googles directory is just a download of DMOZ, I presume I cannot even check if I listed my web site correctly?

Would it do any harm to list it again?

You are correct that there is no way for you to check the status of your suggestion.
But I want to correct you on "I listed my website". You did not list your website, you only made a suggestion. Only editors can list websites. This is an essential difference.

> Would it do any harm to list it again?
If this is only your second suggestion it won't do much harm. It only will overwrite the previous suggestion if both suggestions are done to the same category.
But it will also do you no good. Once a suggestion is made it will not disappear until an editor reviews the website.
