I've tried to get an updated description posted for <url removed>
Changes have been submitted, but the update has not happened. Where may I get further assistance?

Thanks

You cannot.
By suggesting an update you have done all that you can do.
Your answer is no answer at all.

I'm in the same position as the previous poster. Submitted a simple url update months ago and still waiting for editors to follow through.

Do you realize that people's businesses are wrapped up in these listings? A 10-second update makes all the difference for the people who depend on you to do your job.

Dismissive answers such as the one you so smugly provided are of no help to anyone.

But I'm afraid it is the truth and the only answer you're likely to get.

Try to see things from out point of view. Yes, we care about the quality of the directory, and yes we like to give update requests a higher priority than new site suggestions. While each update request may not take long to deal with (I think it's probably more like a minute than 10 seconds), remember that there are a finite number of volunteer editors to look at them, who have a finite amount of free time that they wish to donate to the project.

Now think how many update requests we might receive every day, and what percentage of them might be people trying to insert keywords into their listings, or otherwise change to non-guidelines-compliant titles/descriptions. You'd be amazed how blatantly disregard the the instructions on the "Update Listing" form.

No, I don´t realize that some businesses are dependant on our volunteer hobby. If they are dependant on that, it´s probably not a viable business anyway. We don´t do a job for someone else here, we just practice a hobby.

chaos, I appreciate the more complete answer you provided.

However, we're talking about a URL change, not keywords and other SEO nonsense. I would think you'd be able to prioritize that task.

Since ODP doesn't allow us to maintain our own accounts, we're completely depended on you. And it seems we're stuck.

Many editors do prioritize those requests -- but every requests must be thoroughly vetted, and it would disgust you to see how many webmasters or site owners us this process to try and spam or abuse the directory.

We will only change an url if we can find prove that the url realy has changed. If the old url is still active and has no reference (either automatic redirect or text telling your visitors about the move) to the new url we almost never change the listing.

Yes, we do but we are still volunteer editors and as such some time may pass between you suggesting the update and we looking at it.

Hmm, I never new that you could have an "account" at DMOZ.
