Update URL process

Category: Business: Chemicals: Polymers: Processing Methods: Composite Plastic

Listed URL: <url removed>

Correct URL: <url removed>

Listed title: Glas Forms Inc.

Quality control issue: Two "Update Listing" requests have been submitted, with approximately 6-8 weeks between requests, to update the URL to the correct address. The old address currently forwards via a 301 redirect to the current address but the directory has not been updated to reflect the current URL.

This could have been posted this under the "Report hijacks, dead links, etc" sticky but I am concerned that this case may represent a broader Quality Control issue.

Note: The update listing requests contained ONLY the URL update and DID NOT request a description change (keyword stuffing) or category change.

Thank you for your hard work.

Update requests are also handled by volunteer editors. And although they are normaly handled quicker than newly suggested sites it is possible that your requests are still waiting processing.

the same problem with URL

Category is

Society: Relationships: Dating: Personals: Regional: Europe: Central and Eastern Europe

The request to change URL has been sent more than a year ago, than it was sent on May 12, 2008 (from other our colleagues) - no result. Than I have sent today one more.

Is there any real chance that the request to change URL will be considered?

Hope for your help,
thanks

As pvgool explained in the previous post, Update Requests, like all editing tasks, are handled by volunteers when they feel like working on that particular task, in that particular category.
So it is entirely possible that nobody has yet reviewed your request.

Provided the request meets ODP guidelines, and provided the reasons for the request are valid, then an editor will indeed review it, but as with any volunteer activity, there can be no time frame for this. :)

On the other hand, the request may already have been reviewed and rejected for some reason, usually because the request did not meet the ODP guidelines. (I don't know about your own case, because I haven't checked, but this is a very common reason for Update Requests being declined.)

It often helps to keep the request simple and avoid the temptation to add keywords to the title and description... Make the reason for the change clear, and make sure that the reason actually appears on the site... ie.: If you change location, and the previous address is still all over the site the update will likely be refused.

It's always good to remember the fundamental principles of operation:

--What gets a site listed is the site itself, not a suggestion.
--How a site gets categorized depends on the unique information on the site itself, not on where the site is suggested.
--The site description is based on the site itself, not the suggested description.
--When a site gets reviewed is based on what kind of content the reviewer is looking for, not on the date of the site suggestion.

These apply to update suggestions as well as initial site suggestions.
