That category is for listing UK hotel chains. Deeplinks of international hotel chains don't belong there. It doesn't make any difference that you've chosen to spread your website over a several domain names.

Your previous listing there was an error. Thank you for drawing it to our attention.

Re: Update URL resulted in Sites Entry disappearin

Sorry Jim but I had nothing to do with the original link. We came across it as we were looking for somewhere to place www.marriott.co.uk and assumed that we could place the link to the new site there.

<edited> reread your post and i think i understand what you mean.

Heck, I'm not blaming you either for the original mistake or for the more recent change request.

Just to clarify things though, www.marriott.co.uk doesn't belong anywhere in our directory.

Re: Update URL resulted in Sites Entry disappearin

Hi Jim. I've been having a look around DMOZ and at the guidelines and would like you to reconsider your decision.

The Marriott UK site is completely independent from its other sites, and is purely targeted at the UK and I feel that it is appropriate to this category.

For example:

The Hilton UK website http://www.hilton.co.uk is also listed in this category, whilst http://www.hilton.com is listed here:

http://dmoz.org/Recreation/Travel/Lodging/Hotels_and_Motels/Chains/

Similarly for http://www.bestwestern.com/ and http://www.bestwestern.co.uk/

Whilst the Marriott sites have a similar look and feel, they both offer useful and different information to their respective target audiences.

Also the .co.uk site doesn't simply point at an area of the .com site; it is completely independent.

The same is true for other international sites, which cover several different languages.

I hope you'll take a closer look at this, and hope to hear your response soon.

I forgot to mention, this wasn't always the case (hence the old subdomain of Marriott.com), but earlier this year Marriott launched some regionally targetted sites with localised content. One such was this .co.uk site.

Anyway, I hope this information helps you to come to a decision.

Regards

Rich
