URL Change

Hi :)

I'm just looking for a bit of advice/help really regarding the change of a URL.

One of our clients has just produced a new site, and put the site under a new domain. Their old site is currently located on Freeserver servers - http://www.malherbie.freeserve.co.uk/ and is currently located in the category http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/England/Somerset/Ilminster/ in DMOZ.

My question basically is that since I didn't make the original submission to the category for the old site, am I able to request a URL change? or is the original submitter the valid person to make that request?

Any info kindly received :)
Cheers - Andi

Re: URL Change

Go ahead and make the update request :) We don't keep track of who made the initial submission, and it doesn't matter in the least who makes the request for a change in the listing, as long as it's legit ;) (It has to be clear that it is a legit change, btw - at the moment, the freeserve address still works and there is no indication on that site of a site change. The reviewing editor will need to see that the site is really moving!)

Cheers,

Re: URL Change

What nea said. If you can put a message on the old site to say that it has moved then we'll do it, otherwise you may be best making an additional submission. We're very wary of changing URLs where there's no clear indication on the old site that it has changed.

Re: URL Change

Hi

after muchos hassle (!) I have managed to get a notice on the freeserve site saying that there is a new site.

I was wondering if the site is still waiting for its URL change, or if has been ignored as there was no notification of the new site when i made the initial post?

any info kindly received ;)

Re: URL Change

The URL has been changed. You should be able to see the change on the public category page fairly soon.
