URL not being ammended despite several requests

It's a long story, but here goes...

I have had a site listed in the Open Directory for over three years. I used a redirection service for it. That redirection service closed down a few months ago and the URL became unavailable through not fault of my own. My category doesn't have an editor, but I used the ammend details to switch the URL to a working one. Nevertheless, even though I tried a few times over several months, the URL was not ammended.

Now I've noticed that the website has been removed altogether! I understand why as the URL it is going to just features a 'page not found' error.

It is frustrating that nobody bothered to ammend the URL.

The site is still viewable in the Google Directory, but not DMOZ category listing. See 'WHSmith Online' (which is about the 12th site) here

It does appear in the Dmoz search results for 'whsmith' (top site).

This is the Dmoz category page..

I was wondering if an editor could be so kind as to relist my popular site - I have put a lot of hard work into it over the years.

The new URL should be http://WHSmith.ipfox.com please.

Description: Buy books, CDs, DVDs, videos, games and stationary at WHSmith's UK shopping site.

Thank you very much <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

Re: URL not being ammended despite several request

For those that live in countries other than the UK, WHSmith is a major UK high street stationers. They can be found at http://www.whsmith.co.uk/.

You site is not suitable for inclusion as it consists of nothing more than affiliate links (to the official WHSmith site), and we do not list affiliate sites.

ps. Was your site really created in AD 103, as the copyright notice says?

First the good news, your site is waiting to be reviewed, and it's the only one there.
Now the bad news: the submittal page says 'Do not submit any site with an address that redirects to another address.' What concerns me is the new site you submitted pulls content from http://www.Litmania.com/whs/all/online.html

submittal form also says Don't submit sites consisting largely of affiliate links. , but everything is affiliate tagged to WH Smith.

Sorry, but I doubt you'll be listed - I don't edit in the UK, but these 2 problems would be enough for me - especially the lattter.

darn dfy's are faster

Yes it was created in AD 103 <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

I accept the site has affiliate links, but it has been listed in that category for about four years I think.

It is not just a tacky affiliate site. I have spent days laying it out in a user-friendly manner and spend a lot of time adding new offers every week.

Regarding URL forwarding, I just thought the shorter redirection URL would look nicer. The editor is free to list http://www.Litmania.com/whs/all/online.html if he/she prefers. The previous url was a redirection as well and that was listed for years: http://whsmith.is-online.net

Thanks for the feedback, it is much appreciated <img src="/images/icons/smile.gif" alt="" />

&gt;It is not just a tacky affiliate site.

You may have misread the submittal policies. They do not say anything about tacky sites. You may submit tacky sites: in fact, we have whole categories of them.

What you may not submit are _affiliate_ sites.

That an affiliate site was listed for years is a shameful mistake, for which we abase ourselves in apology, and for which we atone by removal as quickly as possible when we are informed.

The following is an affiliate site:
[Adult URLs removed...hutcheson]

If you place your mouse above the Enter Link you will see the following displayed on the lower bar:
[URL removed.]

Also the page is full of hidden links and text.

Thanks

Please post links to Adult content only in the adult forum. Access will be granted after posting in the members section.

I would have looked into it, but the system is not accessible right now.
