How recently was it updated? The ODP search system only updates its database on a weekly basis at the moment - so if it last updated at 00:01 on Sunday and your site was added to a category on 00:02 on Sunday, then you'll have to wait another week before it starts showing up in the ODP search results.

However, the ODP search database is compiled off the RDF dump (which takes a few days to process), hence it could be up to a fortnight before your site appears in the ODP search system.

The RDF dump was last produced on 2003-04-09, and took several days to compile. If your site was added before the RDF was started (say, about 2003-04-04) then it should be in, otherwise you will have to wait for the next RDF dump, and subsequent Search update from it.

I guess your right. I dont know it for sure, but since some changes are made to the search cluster as well as to the other machines, it may be that the synchronisation between the machines does not work right now.

I always wonder why it isn't "good enough" for us to say that the site is definitely listed even if the search function isn't showing it... Are we lying? No.

One _could_ mention that a great deal of machine-shuffling is going on at the moment, as staff tries to bring the new hardware on line with minimal disruption, meanwhile spreading bits and pieces of the ODP "website" over multiple IP addresses.

The search functionality is migrating more than once in the process, IIRC, and acquiring multiple new machines.

But what is really important to mention is:

The search functionality is NOT important to you -- you know your site is in. It's NOT under our control. And it's NOT used by any substantial number of customers--particularly lately, when the unexpectedly heavy load on all the DMOZ servers has made all of them unpleasantly slow and unpredictable to use. So the answer, whatever it might be, is of no consequence. Just don't ask, OK?
