This is very weird. I'm not sure if we have a controlling editor in my category or not.
In my search for more websites related to mine to exchange links I found a forum where a half dozen people or so who applied for an editor position in the http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_America/United_States/Oregon/Business_and_Economy/Real_Estate/ category were griping because they were rejected with no explanation. So I thought I'd give it a shot. Within 24 hours I was instantly rejected with no explanation. I have to admit I do own a website related to that category called www.RealtyInOregon.com which may have been the reason why I was rejected due to possible biasness. However I found it very odd that I too was rejected with no explanation. It's not a very high traffic category, and it has no editor. Also the category below it only has one editor who turns out to be a web developer here in Oregon. When I applied I suggested three very relevant sites with extremely good quality information and unique content. My application also had perfect grammar and honesty. I wish someone would investigate this matter for us in the Oregon community, because so far it seems that someone is protecting their editorial position with ruthlessness. While I may not have been qualified to edit that category I'm sure several of those people are. Not to mention the only sites that have been added to that category in the last two years were the ones she had development contracts with. In fact after contacting the promoter for the Oregon Association of Realtors, whose website isn't included oddly enough, he said he has found it extremely difficult to get any of the government real estate websites listed in there as well even after eight years.
Could someone please do us a big favor and investigate this matter. It's gotten to the point of being absolutely ridiculous.
Thank you,
Eli
