Hello,

I submitted the following site:

vintagelegance.rubylane.com

to the following DMOZ category:

http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Jewelry/Estate_and_Collectible/

I was wondering what the status is on my submission?

I previously submitted under:

http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Jewelry/Costume/

but the site wasn't listed after 3 weeks, so I tweeked my description and resubmitted under Estate_and_Collectible. I then discovered this forum and from reading posts here, I see it can often take longer than 3 weeks to be reviewed. Either directory would be applicable to my site.

Your site http://vintagelegance.rubylane.com/is still waiting for review in both categories. Both have more than a hundred unreviewed submissions, so I'm afraid it may still take some time.

You may come back to this thread to ask again after one or two months - if your site has not been listed by then.

Your site is waiting in both queues and hasn't been touched by an editor yet.

Instead of submitting to two different subcategories it would have been a better idea to submit one time to the parent category http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Jewelry/ , provided that your site really covers more than just one of the subcategories (I didn't have a closer look at it).

You don't need to resubmit, your site will eventually end up in the right place if it is accepted.

That site offers estate costume jewelry, so it clearly belongs in one of these two categories. Which one them is not clear to me, but we'll see ...

Hello,

The topic you are referencing is somewhat related, in that I am an independent shop owner on Ruby Lane. However, I am a different shop owner. I have seen other discussions about "deep linking", but know of many other Ruby Lane shops who have been individually listed with the ODP.

Your site is among a large queue of sites in http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Jewelry/Estate_and_Collectible/ (several hundred)
as well as Shopping/Jewelry/Costume (also several hundred).

You can only be accepted in one of the two categories, and it seems to me that http://dmoz.org/Shopping/Jewelry/Estate_and_Collectible/ is probably the most appropriate, but as your products fall within both boundaries the editor who looks at them will decide. Jewelry categories get a huge number of submissions, and tend to be backed up. It may be a long wait...sorry the news is not better.

In addition, your site redirects to http://www.rubylane.com/shops/vintagelegance so that is the url it would be listed under if and when it is accepted. I have changed that on both submissions.

Thank you for checking on this for me! I had some confusion as to how to list my URL... other sites that are hosted on Ruby Lane and listed in the ODP use both formats. Thank you for making the changes and I'll check back again in a few months.
