I've been stuck way away in
http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_Amer...alities/S/Spring_Valley/Business_and_Economy/

for way over a year and a half ! Maybe over 2 years now. I've requested my site be moved a couple of times, with months passing between each request.

My company is national in scale, with even some International sales, and I'd very much like to get my site moved, either to the Shopping, or Homes catagories.

My site is http://www.woodsshop.com

Can anyone help me out here with advice on how to get moved ?

Joe, your listing in Regional is where it should be. Regional listings have nothing to do with where you market, but instead where you are actually located. So a move up is not possible in Regional. However, you are allowed one Regional listing and one Topical listing as well. I would suggest that you find the best one Topical category and submit your site there. I am not sure it qualifies for the Shopping category though, but it might. Just be sure to read the description of the category and make sure it applies completely to your site. Once you submit, you can return here in 30 days from that time for another status check. Make sure you bookmark this thread to inquire again.

Which catagorey for www.woodsshop.com ?

I Design/Build beautiful Home Decks and Landscape Structures. I offer Online Deck Design, and also have a line of top-end Japanese style structures that I offer as kits.

I've been stuck way away in a regional niche http://dmoz.org/Regional/North_Amer...alities/S/Spring_Valley/Business_and_Economy/

for well over 2 years now, and I'd like to submit my site to a more appropriate catagory. I deal with customers from all over the US, and have had a little international action as well. This is why I'd like to get out of the Regional area I'm in now.

Which one do you suggest I submit to ? Shopping, or one of the ones under Homes? I sure would appreciate some good advice !

Sorry, but this is not a service we provide. You will have to find a good category yourself.

You can not request a site be moved from Regional to outside-Regional. But sites can sometimes be listed twice. Once in Regional and once in a Thematic category.
Feel free to suggest your site in one (1) category outside Regional.

DogBows ! Thanks very much for your reply !

Would you have a suggestion of the best catagory for my business ? I don't have much experience with this and there are a few different catagories where I could see my site being placed.

I Design/Build top-end decks and landscape structures, offer Online Deck Design, and offer a few Kits for some of my nicer Japanese style Garden Structures.

OK, but there are a few catagories where I could see my site being placed.

I'm new to this, and would appreciate any good suggestions.

A tip: if you actually sell the stuff on the site (i.e. you have prices and people can order remotely), Shopping would be the appropriate area. If you don't sell the stuff on the site but just offer info about the services you offer, something under Business might be more appropriate. Any other section would not be appropriate.

Oh yes, I offer a few nice Japanese structure kits, and have a shopping cart all set up.

Thanks for that tip !

Actually, this is a service we provide everyone on earth. Just submit the site the best you can, and we'll find a place for it if we can.

You can help us find your site by submitting it. You can help us place it by doing some browsing and picking the best place, and by avoiding wasting our time and allowing us to use our most efficient tools to provide that service.

We provide mechanisms for people to help; we appreciate whatever help we get; and we don't cavil if people could conceivably help more.
