Was "Update URL" the correct approach?

I just found this resource or I would have asked prior to acting. However, I though I would ask to make sure there was not something different I needed to do.

First, the company I just started working for had a mirror (www.inkmax.com) of their main site (www.voltexx.com) listed in the "Computers: Hardware: Peripherals: Printers: Supplies" category. The company used to do business under www.voltexcomputers.com which is listed under "Computers: Hardware: Retailers: V". They had to stop promoting the URL due to legal issues with the Voltex name. The new main site is not listed in the DMOZ that I can find and I was hoping to clean this whole situation up.

I have removed the mirror from www.inkmax.com and I am making a page for www.voltexcomputers.com which will inform surfers of the new URL instead of just re-directing them. My Goal is to have both www.inkmax.com and www.voltexcomputers.com removed from the DMOZ and the main site www.voltexx.com listed.

I submitted an "UpdateURL" request for the www.inkmax.com domain since it was in the proper cat. I asked that the URL and Title be changed and sent a new desc. I sent an email to the editor of the other Cat. informing him/her of the situation.

Were these the correct actions? If not, what should I do to sort this all out? I just want to do the right thing and clean up a mess that I inherited.

Based on what you said, I'd say yes. Just don't expect the editor you emailed to answer, s/he's not required to (although it can happen of course).

inkmax.com just comes up with a 'test' page. You may consider replacing this by a link to your main site, informing your visitors that the URL has changed (just like what you intend to do with voltexcomputers.com).

This will show the editor that the URL change is a legitimate update request, and that you're not trying to 'hijack' a listing. They only proof we have is what we see on a site, not what submitters tell us.

Thanks for the help. The new replacement page will be on both old URLs by the end of the day tomorrow.

Thanks again.
