I have submitted a thread long time ago and received a lot of suggestions.

It's been a least a year since I have submitted 4 website to website design directory. Is there any way that someone at lease can check if there an editor.

I tried to contact editor at lease to check if he exist. No answers and etc.

I understand that I can't ask " if and why " my website not submitted yet, I also understand that it can take longer even than a year, but at least to know if the website still in the process or it's denied?

I would be really appreciate if someone can help to find out this.

Thank you,

Any information that's not confidential, you can see yourself.

But the whole concept of "there is an editor" really doesn't conform to reality.

Categories don't own editors. Editors don't have responsibility to categories.

Volunteers have editing permissions (not requirements) in categories.

Hundreds of editors have permissions in ANY category. But I can't tell you who has actually edited anywhere--that is confidential information. "editor webika has edited the categories of Georgia/Some-Tiny-Village; Denominations/Episcopal; Colleges/Notre_Dame; Adult/Bestiality".... is perhaps an extreme case, but giving any information about ANOTHER editor, that you received for the purpose of editing, is just plain unethical.

But the fact is, most editors don't visit any particular category daily or weekly. And 99% or more of editing work isn't done on daily/weekly category visits.

So knowing that one particular category almost certainly doesn't have a regular-visitor-volunteer, and knowing that your site will almost certainly not be reviewed on such a visit--it's pretty pointless asking whether, in fact, this particular category is an exception. Just assume that, like most categories, the concept you have of an "owned editor" doesn't apply.

No, we can't tell you the answer to that. But we can answer any question you might have had, that would have DEPENDED on that information.

It's extremely simple. Assume the site is denied, and will never be accepted. (If you like, assume the ODP doesn't exist!) Then decide what your best course of action is. And go do that.

I guarantee, whatever the REAL situation turns out to be, you'll have made the best decision you could make.

To Hutcheson,

Thank you very much, Hopefully it will be accepted one day.

Do you have any suggestions as far as how long I should wait more before try to submit one more time or perhaps better just wait and don't touch it.

Your suggestion is there waiting so no need to suggest it again.
However if you have a bricks and mortar address where clients could visit/contact you and it is on the site, then you are allowed to suggest the site to the category for the Regional/.../locality for that address. Again no 'time to listing' can be predicted but you will have improved the odds.

regards

Suggestions don't get sites listed. UNIQUE CONTENT ON SITES gets sites listed.

Suggestions don't make anybody do anything. Suggestions are suggestions.

What do suggestions do?

One suggestion makes it easy to find a site. But you've done that. What are you expecting another suggestion would do? So far as that site goes, there's nothing more the ODP needs from you; and nothing more you can do at the ODP.

But on the site itself: anything you'd do there (even if it were rejected by the ODP)--do now.

Web design editor

We suggested a website a 2 years ago.

3 month ago I tried to ask if there an editor in web design category. Basically is there planing to be a changes with DMOZ policy, how can we check is the website was declined or etc. Since there no way to get an answer.

Can someone check please or tell me how can we contact the web design editor, we tried to send an email but contact form is not working, just to find out if the link still in the process or it never even been.

Thank you,

2 years waiting for the answer.

I merged your threads to make discussion easier (so we don't tell you things you already know, for one thing :) )

There is no one web design editor. Web design companies are listed in a range of different categories, and at least a couple of hundred editors can edit in each of these categories. You can check for yourself to see if the site you have suggested is eligible for listing or not (the guidelines are available at http://www.dmoz.org/guidelines ) and provided it is, there is no reason to believe it has been declined. Why not follow the advice given above, and also suggest the site to the most specific category in the Regional/ category tree?

Extremely unlikely. The current policy has been experimentally confirmed, with a HIGH degree of confidence.
