Can any one tell me how long it should take between web site submission and entry in the DMOZ category requested.
It is about 5 weeks since submission.

Many Thanks

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

There is no standard or average time.
It can be a few days. It can also be several years.

How in the world can that make DMOZ one of the leading authorities in the web regarding directories..I understand it was one of the first but so what this is a technology driven industry and there is no excuse for taking 2 years. If its taking 2 years for a submission then that would mean its no better than last weeks newspaper.

But DMOZ is not a newspaper. We are not interested in presentinmg the latest and newest websites. We are interested in creating usefull categories for our users. If a user can find information about a subject through the websites that are listed there is less need to list more websites for such a subject. Promoting websites is not something we do.

I don't know.
We know how many editors there have been since the start of DMOZ and we know how many editors have an active acount at this moment but we do not know how many of them do review suggested websites.
Reason: reviewing suggested websites is not a task that editors must perform. Editors do build categories. For that task they may use suggested websites, they also may use other sources. It is their choice.
